The Type 1 Beetle is one of the best selling cars of all time with
over 21 million sold. Originally designed with the principle of
practicality, and not much in the form of refinement, the Beetle
showed impressive build quality and reliability. The Beetle is
easily the most recognizable car design of the 20th century.
This Split Window features the correct changes present in 1951 such
as the Wolfsburg crest on the front hood, Vent flaps added to the
front quarter body panels (crotch coolers), chrome molding added to
the windshield, glovebox doors as well as another 21 significant
changes differentiating it as the 'face lift' model at the
time.
The original Power is derived from a 1.1-liter flat-four which is
constructed of an alloy block and heads with finned cylinders along
with cast-iron cylinder liners. It was factory rated at 24.5
horsepower and 51 lb-ft of torque. This Split Window has been
uprated to 1600 cc with the addition if dual ported cylinder heads.
The power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-Speed Manual
transaxle gearbox. It is truly a wolf in sheep's clothing.
