The Thunderbird was introduced in 1955 as a 'Personal Car of Distinction". The original Gen 1 design was built for three years, benefiting from performance and cosmetic upgrades each year. The 1957 T'Bird was a sales success with over 21,000 units delivered. This restored (2020) '57 Thunderbird is a stunning example of the first generation model.

The T'bird is striking with a professional re-spray of Torch Red accented by the newly designed front/rear facias, rear fender skirts, excellent new chrome and wide-white radials mounted on classic reproduction Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels. A removable 'porthole' hardtop w/stand is paired with a brand new manual white soft top. The interior was carefully restored with new cream vinyl upholstery, new carpeting and new tinted windshield. A beautifully redesigned '57 instrument cluster with round gauges accents the seating area. Features include A/C, telescopic 'deep-dish' wheel, power windows and AM/FM/Bluetooth sound system - it is a very cool space.

The spotless engine compartment appears to be totally original. Power is furnished by a rebuilt Thunderbird 312ci Y-block (D code) rated at 245hp and fitted with the factory 'Engine Dress-up Kit' w/over-sized air cleaner assembly and chrome/cast accents. The original Holley 'teapot' carburetor has been replaced with a modern Holley 4-barrel w/electric choke that is mounted on the factory manifold. Virtually all of the engine components have been replaced/upgraded including distributor, wiring, fuel pump, fan, HD aluminum radiator, throttle linkage and the entire A/C system. Factory exhaust manifolds and the air cleaner assembly have been retained. Electrics are well managed by a 12V generator system. This Y-block is backed by a 2-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission and factory gearing was 3.70:1. The very clean chassis is equipped with power steering, manual brakes and upgrades that include coil-over rear shocks, new exhaust system and a new fuel tank.
