Vehicle Description
This 1987 Buick Grand National has been given big investment within
the last few years to keep it both stock and sharp. So while we
love all of the turbo-powered GNs for their dark and aggressive
attitude, as you look closer at this one, you'll also see the level
of respect and restoration that you really want in your
classic.
You already know the legend. General Motors had a short run of
Buick coupes that looked mean and had the performance to back it
all up. Its Regal siblings have a great creased appearance that
instantly conveys a feeling of premium. But where they liked to use
chrome to make a statement, this one reserves the brightwork only
for the wheels. That sends a very different message. The
blacked-out trim, the power dome hood, and the subtle ducktail
spoiler all give this car a look that commands respect - and it all
came directly from the factory that way. And we're told the respray
of the sinister black paint happened just over a year ago. And
everything from the fit of the sheet metal to the newer bumper
filler pieces makes sure the light rolls evenly across the body -
no matter if it's radiating the noon sunlight or a full moon
night.
The correct black and gray is freshly detailed. So the bucket seats
up front look great, and yours even power adjusts to the ideal
driving position. So they do a terrific job of balancing out the
Buick's comfortable image with extra bolstering for the Grand
National's added performance. As a true high-end sports coupe, this
comes loaded with all the best features. It includes power windows,
power locks, cruise control, the factory AM/FM/cassette stereo, and
cold-blowing air conditioning. This one has been looked after so
well, right down to details, like the correct-spec replacement
power antenna. The three-spoke steering wheel and the tilt column
were designed to give you a clear view of the gauges. That's
important here because you have the cool horizontal tach and the
upgraded 145 mph speedometer.
What makes this one so special is what's under the hood. The
3.8-liter fuel-injected V6 turbo motor turned this Buick into a
Corvette contender. And because the powerplant is so essential,
this one has been kept in show-ready condition. It's not just the
clean style and factory decals that make this so attractive. This
is a thoughtful setup, right down to the new hood mat with correct
Grand National graphics. Such a clean style and overall respect
make for a strong-running turbo powerhouse. The four-speed
automatic transmission is not only there for quick shifting action,
but also it's for overdrive comfort. And this mix of comfort and
performance extends to the fresh undercarriage with newer bushing,
shocks, springs, and powder-coated components. It makes for a
confident driver that includes power steering, power brakes, front
discs, and sway bars front & rear.
You're looking at one of the most desirable machines from the
1980s. And you already know the price doesn't get any better for a
complete and maintained Grand Nationals. So this is a case of
calling us today, or you might regret it tomorrow!
