Vehicle Description
1966 Dodge A100 Hot Rod Pickup Truck
Why This Car Is Special
The A100 was a range of compact vans and trucks manufactured and
marketed from 1964 to 1970 by Chrysler Corporation.
The A100 competed with the Ford Econoline and Chevrolet Van and
Chevy Corvair Greenbrier, as well as the Volkswagen Type 2 all with
a "forward control" design. Placing the driver on top of the front
axle with the engine between the front seats, just behind the front
wheels makes it a "cab over" vehicle.
We have a cool 1966 Dodge A-100 Pickup here at Skyway Classics that
has a mean look and stance with its chopped top, small block MOPAR
engine, satin black paint scheme, and blacked out wheels.

Mechanical
The front engine design of this Dodge is a well-balanced approach
to the utilitarian design with the small block MOPAR V8 engine
placed between the front seats so the lion's share of weight
resides squarely over the front axle.
The motor at the center of it all is a true Mopar powerhouse. The
factory never offered anything as large as the V8 that is currently
powering this pickup. It has a four-barrel carburetor on its Mopar
intake, chrome valve covers, Edelbrock open element air cleaner,
MSD ignition parts, performance spark plug wire set, and backed by
a three-speed automatic transmission.
It rides on blacked-out aftermarket wheels and wide BF Goodrich
Radial TA raised white letter tires for a solid and confident
driver.
The engine sits underneath the enclosed compartment with a lid that
opens up to show it inside the tidy engine compartment.
Interior
The all black interior sports low-back buckets, console with the
aftermarket racing type shifter, a flat floor, a classic steering
wheel, and a commanding view of the road are all part of the charm
of these forward control trucks.
It enjoys being quite a vintage machine inside with the factory
dash, gauges, and instruments, engine hatch and compartment in the
middle, black seatbelts, and factory door panels.
Exterior
These forward control vans offer individual seats up front, and the
driver gets a commanding view of the road and ours is painted in
the satin black finish all around accented by the chopped top, with
molded bumpers, twin mirrors, and side gas cap.
Plus, the long flat wooden floor in the bed is great for everything
from carrying cargo to your surf board.
