The 1953 Buick Skylark convertible Model 76X was the centerpiece of Buick's 50th Anniversary, and called ‘General Motors Motorama Dream Car’. The Skylark came with standard equipment beyond anything previously offered by Buick. Based on the premium-series Buick Roadmaster chassis, the Skylark had a look all of its own. The Kelsey-Hayes 40-spoke chrome wheels are acknowledged by collectors as among the most beautiful wheels to ever grace a production car. Powered by Buick's first modern V8 engine, this car's performance matched its racy appearance.
This restored beauty was originally Code 51 Carlsbad Black, and is now finished in Red with a white power convertible top. The interior features Trim 66B white leather with red leather inserts, Power windows, ‘Easy-eye’ glass, Selectronic AM Radio with electric antenna. It is powered by a 322 Cubic Inch ‘Fireball’ V8 with 188 horsepower, Twin Turbine Dynaflow 2 speed Automatic, power steering, power brakes, Chrome wire wheels and wide whitewall tires.
Sales in 1953 totaled just 1,640 units, making this Skylark a rare and collectible car.
