For Sale: 1968 Chevrolet El Camino in King City, California

Vehicle Description

This 1968 Chevrolet El Camino Malibu underwent a frame-off restoration under the seller’s 10-year ownership. It is equipped with Rally wheels, a Vintage Air climate control system, disc brakes, and upgraded bucket seats. Power comes from a 350ci V8 crate engine mated to a rebuilt Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. Finished in Ermine White over a newer black vinyl interior, this third-generation El Camino is now offered with documents from the original owner, a build sheet, restoration receipts and photos, and a clear California title in the seller’s name.

This El Camino reportedly started out prior to restoration as a 56,000-mile original vehicle. It underwent a frame-off overhaul under the seller’s ownership and was resprayed in Ermine White. The original bumpers have been re-chromed. Features include quad headlights, a driver-side mirror, Malibu badging, and a dual exhaust system. The seller has provided photos taken during the restoration in the gallery to the right.

Steel Rally wheels with polished trim rings are wrapped in Cooper Cobra Radial G/T raised-white-letter tires.

The cabin offers an OPGI (Original Parts Group, Inc.) black vinyl interior kit with upgraded bucket seats and black surrounding materials. Features include Vintage Air climate control and a newer stereo system. The seller notes that the horn buttons need to be wired, the windshield wiper switch is inoperative, and the carpet behind the seats needs to be trimmed.  Also, the wiring for the Cigarette Lighter and the brand new Chevy Stereo with USB connection need to be finished.

Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer and supplementary readouts. The seller notes that the speedometer is not accurate. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 210 miles.

The crate-sourced 350ci V8 was tuned up upon installation. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a rebuilt Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission.

During the restoration process, the frame was sandblasted and powder-coated. Stopping power comes from four-wheel disc brake conversion kit.

MANY more pics of the restoration process at my facebook page Christopher Boyd Hanson.  This is a 1968 Chevy el Camino for sale. This car was a Malibu with a 307 engine.  Frame off restoration. I have a complete build sheet with receipts of expenses.  We dropped a new 350 Chevy Crate engine in there.  The car has now been driven 220 miles and runs great!  New Vintage Air installed and works. Yes on both front and rear Disc Break Conversion.  OPGI black Interior Kit.  No dings in Original 1968 bumpers that were re-chromed. Rebuilt Two Speed Powerglide Automatic transmission.  Gears in the pumpkin or differential only had 56,000 miles so no need to upgrade to limited slip differential.  Paint is 1969 Ermine White.  2k in Bucket Seats to lower the view and make driving more comfortable. The flooring carpet behind the seats needs to be trimmed. The speedometer is not accurate. The horn buttons on steering wheel need to be wired.  There is a new windshield wiper motor, but needs a windshield wiper switch.  The cigarette lighter worked for a while but now won't heat up.  And the wiring to the new Chevy stereo with USB cable has to be finished.
