this car.
Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful
completely numbers matching 1972 Big Block Corvette Stingray
Convertible in absolutely fantastic condition and with the original
high performance 454ci LS5 engine and only 89,125 original miles.
The car is finished in the beautiful and highly desirable color
combination of Steel Cities Grey (988) over Black (400). This
elegant color combination is highly desirable, rare, truly
striking, and looks great on this Corvette shark body style. This
is also the correct and original color scheme as verified by the
codes on the trim tag. The car also comes with two tops, both the
soft-top and a vinyl covered hardtop, which are both pictured in
this ad.
Besides the correct paint and trim codes, this Corvette is "Numbers
Matching" meaning the engine and transmission in the car are the
correct and original units that were installed in the car new at
the factory in 1971. The last six digits of the VIN, 507044, are
stamped on the engine pad, which is pictured in this ad, and the
engine is original to the car. The transmission is also original
with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the main case and
pictured.
This Stingray is verified as an original big block LS5 in a number
of ways. First, on the engine pad is stamped "CSS." This suffix
code denotes an LS5 with an automatic transmission. The car is also
confirmed as an original and authentic LS5 big block by the fifth
digit of the VIN. Only the LS5 Corvettes with have a "W" in this
spot like this car does, a base motor 1972 Corvette will always
have an "K" in the fifth digit of the VIN.
We have this car priced to sell and are offering an excellent
opportunity to own a very desirable big block Corvette Stingray
convertible at an unbeatable value. The big block and convertible
body style draw a great premium over the standard small block and
coupe body styles. One could easily buy this car now and sell it
for more than the purchase price in years to come as the market on
C3 "chrome bumper" Corvettes from 1968 to 1972 is absolutely red
hot right now and on the rise. The low mileage is verified not only
by the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title which
shows the mileage as "Actual." Please peruse all of the photos,
video, list of numbers, and other information below to get a true
sense of how nice this Corvette really is.
As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We
hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come
from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give
the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and
encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car
inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We
photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the
Corvette, just give us a call.
Exterior
The Steel Cities Grey (988) exterior is in excellent driver
condition. As one can see in the photos, the finish has dazzling
gloss, smooth finish, and deep shine. The rally wheels and center
caps are in fantastic condition with a brilliant finish and no curb
rash. Please note that this car still has the original 4-clip style
beauty rings, not the cheaper foreign made replacements. The raised
white letter tires are virtually brand new with less than 20 miles
on them and are correctly sized 225/70R15. The chrome looks nice
overall as one can see in the photos. The soft top is in good
condition with no rips or holes and the rear window is not
yellowed. The auxiliary vinyl hardtop is also in great condition.
There are no major blemishes that have been intentionally excluded
from the photos. There are a few tiny imperfections around car that
were too faint to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is
really noticeable from about five feet away. This Stingray has no
rust issues. As one can see in the many photos of the underside
this car is very clean underneath. The frame is totally solid
around the "key hole" area in front of the rear tire and we have
seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield or "birdcage"
area, which is the most common spots for rust on a C3 Corvette. We
have included specific photos of the areas most prone to rust to
show how nice this car looks.
Window Date Codes
Please note that the glass on this Corvette, both "Astro
Ventilation" door windows and the windshield, are all date coded
and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of
November 10, 1971 (D10). The door glass is original, but someone
has added an etched design in the corner on each side, which is
visible in the photos. Original glass is a good indication that
this car has had no major accident history and never sustained
significant damage.
Interior
The Black (400) interior of the Corvette is in outstanding
condition. The seats are in excellent shape with no rips, split
seams, or excessive wear. The seats are not overly worn in the
typical area where the driver gets in and out. The gauge faces are
clean and crisp and the lenses are clear. The carpet is also in
excellent condition with no stains, rips, or holes. This includes
the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The door panels are in
nice shape overall. The dash and console are in good shape with no
cracks, fading, or sun damage. The jack and jack handle are still
with the car, stored correctly behind in the compartment behind the
passenger seat. The spare is also still with the car. This Corvette
has never been smoked in; there are no burns marks and no aroma of
cigarettes.
Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well,
especially for a convertible, and the excellent condition of this
interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention
this car has received throughout its life and another great
verification of the low original mileage.
Mechanical
This Corvette seems to be in good mechanical condition. The
original numbers matching 454ci LS5 engine starts right away, runs
well, and idles smooth. This Stingray drives great and feels nice
on the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can
observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph,
shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going
through some curves. Please note that there are no vibrations and
the car performs quite well overall. The brakes do not pull to one
side or the other. The transmission shifts well throughout the
power band. The car runs cool and does not overheat. There is no
blue smoke when starting or driving the car. Also, the engine
compartment is beautifully clean, detailed, and correct as one can
see in the photos.
The radio works as do all the exterior lights, dash lights, horn,
and wipers. Even very detailed items work such as the "Head Lamp"
light on the dash to show that the headlights have risen work
properly. The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wiper
door works correctly. Please note that the vacuum system works
properly from both the respective switches on the dash and the
override switches. The entire operation from both switches can be
viewed in the video. All of the gauges work with the obvious
exception of the clock. The blower for the heater and a/c works on
all speeds but high. The air conditioning does not blow cold so it
may need a shot of freon. The car does run well, but...for more
