"Thunderbird - A new kind of personal car that combines sports car styling and performance with passenger car conveniences." This was the heading on Thunderbird's sales brochure in 1955. The first T-bird rolled off the assembly line on September 9, 1954. Many configurations of that initial model followed, but our 2004 Thunderbird 'Premium' honors its classic roots. (Premium model includes hardtop and heated seats.) This totally original 2-owner roadster appears to be a garage-kept example of this modern luxury sports car. Both the rare Vintage Mint Green exterior, accented by beautiful 'Micro-Machined' 17" factory aluminum alloys, and the Black Ink Imola leather upholstery w/Whisper White inserts are in outstanding condition. Gen 11 Thunderbirds were based on Ford's 'DEW' platform used worldwide for mid-sized models. As for the drivetrain, Blue Oval powerplants have come a long way since the '55 Y-block '292' V8. This beautiful roadster is powered by Ford's 3.9L fuel injected V-8 that produces 280bhp @ 6,000RPM. The high-revving engine is an all-aluminum, DOHC design with 4-valves per cylinder and is backed by a 5-speed/OD automatic transmission and Traction Control differential.
