Vehicle Description
This 1981 Chevrolet Corvette looks good because it has been given
the right mix of investments and preservation. That means a
terrific look to the distinct two-tone, a loaded comfortable
interior, and quite a strong numbers-matching V8.
The attractive presentation of this coupe is because this has been
treated like the significant classic that it is. 1981 was the
inaugural year of the famous Bowling Green factory, and the only
way you could get a two-tone was out of the new Kentucky facility.
More than just history, you'll love this paint for its
sophistication. The factory-correct Autumn Red over Dark Claret
Metallic was treated to a respray later in life, and today it
continues to shine with distinction to give you a classic you can
drive with pride. The two-tone is separated by a bold red/orange
stripe that highlights some of the best curves of the C3's body. It
even is used to showcase the power dome in the hood. And while
these years were extra sleek for their chrome-free appearance,
there was still room for brightwork. It just now highlights the
optional alloy wheels and mirrored T-tops.
The interior is highly original, and you can tell this one did not
spend too much time left in the sun with the T-tops out. However,
we won't blame you for taking them out every chance you get. After
all, red Corvettes are an American tradition, and this one really
shows it off with a multi-tone style inside and out! The red seats
look fantastic, and because this is a later C3, they fold to give
you excellent access to the rear storage. This is a true driver's
machine with a leather-wrapped steering wheel that gives you an
excellent view of the large speedo and tach. Plus, to your side is
a full array of auxiliary gauges. But more than just a great sports
car, this is a comfortable classic with power windows, power locks,
a tilt/telescopic steering column, power seats, and provisions for
air conditioning (it will need servicing to blow cold again.) And
one feature that collectors will love to see is the radio. It's an
AM/FM/cassette stereo with integrated CB. It was one of the rarest
and most expensive options for the year, and this looks stock to
the car.
Under the hood is the numbers-matching 350 cubic-inch V8. It has
quite a stock style, but as you look closer, you can see the
evidence of a more recent tune-up as well as a newer starter and
brake reservoir. So it's a well-maintained package that fires up
eagerly and loves to hit the road. It has a powerful feel and a
nice tune from the dual exhaust. Plus, the fully independent
suspension, newer springs, power steering, a three-speed automatic
transmission, and four-wheel power disc brakes come together to
create one of the best grand touring classics around.
The sale comes complete with nice extras like maintenance receipts
and the T-tops covers. This is the sophisticatedly red Corvette
with an awesome level of presentation. So it's time to get your
hands on a classic that's fun to both drive and show. Call
