Vehicle Description
MaxMotive is proud to offer this historic 1970 Mercury Cougar from
our Pittsburgh Showroom. Any classic from 1970 has historical
significance, but this Cougar is something special. Ford Motor
Company built the car and gifted it to Whitney Young Jr. in 1970.
It was one of only two cars built under the Partner Recognition
Program - aka the X-Plan - that year. Mr. Young was an advisor to
three U.S. presidents and was also known as a civil rights leader,
and his story was portrayed in the motion picture "The Power
Broker." The extraordinary story adds provenance to what is already
a highly desirable automobile. It features the well-respected 351ci
2V V8 engine and floor-shifted automatic transmission. Ford endowed
it with factory air conditioning, high-back bucket seats with
center console, power steering, and power front disc brakes. It was
refinished in 2021 in its original color, Dark Aqua Metallic, which
is accented with a black vinyl roof. Bonus items that are included
with the car are original LP records, books authored by Mr. Young,
Whitney Young postage stamps, movie videos, and other
documentation, along with the original wheel covers, a car cover,
and an Elite Marti Report. Please be sure to see the detailed
photos at www.maxmotive.com. ********** DISCLAIMER MAXmotive
