2001 Porsche Boxster S Road Test More details from the road test:
It seems my initial point of reference is forever blurred by
lustful memories indelibly stamped on my weak mind. You try it!
Spend a week behind the wheel of Porsche's ultimate two-seater and
see if you'd be satisfied with anything less. The sonic sound of
whirring cams and resonant exhaust note of the larger 3.2-litre
engine results in 250 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque. That's 15% more
horsepower than the standard Boxster and 17% more torque, 85% of
which is available below 2000 rpm. Mix in a liquid smooth 6-speed
transmission taken from the 911 parts bin (for quicker starts,
higher top speed and increased fuel economy) and forward momentum
goes from marvelous at 6.6 seconds to 100 km/h, to a sensational
5.9! A 5-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission is optional.
What's even more impressive, the redline limiter doesn't cut power
to the engine like its competitors, but more intelligently holds
power at top revs until you make a shift. Offered here is a black
(A1) over black 2001 Porsche Boxster S, originally a California,
now showing 68,352 miles, or fewer than 3,500 miles per year on
average since new. The Carfax report documents regular maintenance
performed at Porsche and Audi dealers. The original black exterior
paint is in very good condition overall with only light age
indications. The black convertible top is free of damage or tears.
The windshield and lighting lenses front and rear are in excellent
condition. Turbo-look 18-inch wheels (with red brake calipers and
cross-drilled rotors showing) show some wear elements, but no
significant damage. Toyo Proxes4® 18-inch tires are mounted.
Full-color Porsche crests are present on the wheel centers as well
as on the hood. The Boxster S badge is present on the rear deck
with center, twin-exhaust pipes below. Inside, the black leather
upholstery and trim is very well-maintained. Light creasing of the
leather is noted, but no damage or tears are evident. Black
carpeting and Porsche-embroidered floor mats are in excellent
condition. The black, 3-spoke steering wheel with Porsche center
crest is forward of white-faced S instrumentation. The center
console features audio controls, the automatic-transmission shift
level, and power-window controls. Carpeted cargo areas front and
rear are clean and undamaged. The chassis is largely protected by
original panels, with the center 3.2-liter, horizontal, flat-6
engine visible only from below. Short of an in-person inspection,
the photos in the gallery provide the best overall indication of
the chassis, engine, and suspension. While the more than 150
high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup
video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase 2001
Porsche Boxster S in detail from every angle, including from below,
we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids,
Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance
as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in
touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions. The Auto123
