1961 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport 409 Coupe - Only 453 SS models
produced in 1961, and even less than that exist today. None in
existence any nicer than this rare beauty! Perfect in every way
andmuseum quality, right down to the chalk marks and assembly line
production marks. This blue beauty has undergone a total rotisserie
nut and bolt restoration in 2005, and finished in 2008. It's hard
to see a car like this and not hum the tune from The Beach Boys,
"409". Considered the 1st Muscle Car, the 61 Impala SS changed the
game forever! If you want a real piece of American History, then
now is your chance. It is estimated that of the 142 Impala 409
Super Sports built, no more than five or ten remain. In 1962, the
Beach Boys sang in their now-famous 409 song, "She's real fine, my
409," and a legend was born. This is a TRUE FACTORY BUILT SUPER
SPORT with documentation prepared byJersey Great Lakes to provide
authentication of the options originally installed on this car from
the factory, as verified by the codes found on the original data
plates. Prior to restoration: it was inspected and confirmed as
being one of the ORIGINAL SS autos by Mr. Verne Frantz, a well
known Chevrolet historian and member of the Jersey LakesChevy Cowl
Tag Team. Mr Frantz determined that this Impala was originally
equipped with a 348ci / 350hp engine and a 4-speed transmission.
The whereabouts of the original engine and transmission are
unknown. The current motor in this car in one of the ORIGINAL 1961
409 motors. It was found in Minnesota it's a complete motor (not a
pieced together unit). Every date code is correct and all casting
dates are within a 45-day span. Today, the 1961 409's are almost
non-existent. The block, heads, crankshaft, camshaft, and intake
are all pertinent to the 1961 motor only. So what makes this Impala
SS unique is that - ONE OF THE RAREST OF CHEVROLET BODIES HAS BEEN
REUNITED WITH AN EVEN RARER CHEVROLET ENGINE TO CREATE A TRULY RARE
PIECE! Pics and documentation of all casting / part numbers are
available. The restoration was completed in 2008, and it has been
meticulously cared for since then in a climate controlled
environment. The seats haven't even been sat on without plastic
