This 1933 Ford Pickup is a steel-bodied classic that has been given
the proper hot rod upgrades, but you already knew that from just
one glance. That's because the mean color theme, meaner stance, and
growling V8 on display make this unique and intimidating. But you
also may not be expecting some cool extras like power windows and
four-wheel disc brakes.
Matte black is always a great way to deliver pure hot rod flair. It
shows off the clean lines of the steel body. There's even just the
right touch of rat rod flair. We're talking hints of texture and
patina but not junkyard parts. It means the black is a terrific
canvas for the white and red graphics on the door. And the mix of
skinny Centerline wheels up front and wide Pacers in the rear look
ready for the speedway. But the most thoughtful touch might just be
the lipstick red on the roof. Not only does it have an awesome
metallic pop in the sunshine, but also the top of the cooler in the
bed (really the battery box) was done to match.
The black with red accents continues inside. It's a custom package
that starts with the body-hugging low-back bucket seats. They look
like they were borrowed from a 1930s racecar and then reupholstered
with metallic red tuck and roll inserts. The steering wheel was
even done to match. There are some comfortable items like plush
carpeting and power windows, but we still would never call this a
coddler. After all, you have a nice column-mounted tach, B&M
floor shifter, and a great view of the growling motor.
A proper hot rod needs a proper V8. That's why you have an awesome
small block on display. This 350 cubic-inch V8 has been upgraded
for power with a four-barrel carburetor, a hi-rise intake, and
zoomie-style open headers making plenty of power and thunder. There
are also good supporting components, like the dual master cylinder,
an aluminum radiator, and an HEI distributor. And features like the
three-speed automatic transmission, rear coilovers with airbags,
and four-wheel disc brakes with dual master cylinder complete a
solid hot rod package.
