Vehicle Description
This 2002 Chevrolet Blazer ZR2 is a specialty model right from the
factory. They made it a taller and wider 4x4 to make sure it could
live up to its legendary namesake. However, what you might be most
impressed with in this example is how well it has been preserved
inside and out. And investments in fundamentals like the front end
means this capable Blazer is also quite a solid and loaded
cruiser.
The black paint on this Blazer shows all the right signs of being
the factory application. There is a depth and smoothness to it that
looks instantly attractive and signals a life of proper respect
thus far. In fact, while the odometer is believed to reflect the
full mileage, it looks like it left the garage far less. And we can
understand why this one would get this level of respect and
preservation. This is the final evolution of the second-gen Blazer,
and that was the last time it would be offered as a two-door. And
while the shorter wheelbase was ideal for the more capable ZR2
package, it also just gives this a terrific balance of both sporty
and beefy style. It has a tall stance, ZR2 decals, and a full-size
spare on a swing-away mount. Plus, the flared fenders are some of
the most artful we've ever seen with the champagne color looking
distinct against the factory black paint. And the bumper trim is
also done to match. Overall, everything on this one has the kind of
good fit, finish, and shine that tells you it likely has never seen
a mud hole (yet).
The gray interior has an almost time capsule level of presentation.
Plush velour upholstery, smooth plastics, nice carpeting, and good
door panels contribute to the overall feel of respect you see
throughout this Blazer. And this is not just about respectful use.
There have been good investments in details like a refurbished
steering wheel, new door hinge pins, and the air conditioning was
even recently serviced to blow nice and cold. ZR2 was an expensive
package when new, and so the interior also gives you all the best
comforts. It includes well-contoured front bucket seats, power
windows, power locks, keyless entry/alarm, a tilt steering column,
a cup holder center console, and the factory AM/FM/CD stereo. These
two-door Blazers are an ideal size where you can almost feel like
you have a sporty coupe - especially with the way the seat,
console, and instruments envelop the driver. But there's also real
back seat room and plenty of cargo space. In fact, not only does
the split rear hatch make it easy to carry the big stuff, but it's
also an ideal place to sit and watch a ballgame.
Under the hood is the correct 4.3-liter V6. This fuel-injected
Vortec motor was the largest and final evolution of the S-10 Blazer
line, and so it's the one you really want. Its healthy torque
reputation gets you going from stop lights with a nice hustle, and
it's also great when it's time to get any work done. This is a true
4x4, and the two-speed transfer case is engaged via buttons on the
dash. So there you never have to get out if you decide to hit the
trails. But this is made for more than just the off-road life.
That's why there's also the four-speed automatic transmission with
highway-friendly overdrive and cruise control. And power steering,
newer tires, and four-wheel power disc brakes make for great
any-time driving appeal. In fact, we have a receipt documenting a
full front end rebuild from only a few months ago. New bushing, tie
rods, upper control arms, shocks, and more are all about making
this ride basically like it did back on day one.
