This 1955 Chrysler New Yorker St. Regis Hardtop Coupe is powered by the original Generation I Hemi engine. A 331 cubic-inch V8 'Firepower' engine with hemispherical cylinder heads producing an astonishing 250 horsepower. It is connected to the three-speed Powerflite automatic gearbox, drives effortlessly with power steering, and stops with four-wheel power-assisted drum brakes and is offered today with under 15,000 original miles!
1955 was a big year for the Chrysler Corporation as they introduced their new line of cars which showcased the new styling influences of their chief stylist, Virgil Exner. All vehicles in the Mopar family were treated to his team's expertise and talents and the work they performed are among the most memorable in history. Large twin grilles, wrap around bumpers, and full-length side trim make the St. Regis truly shine. The St. Regis was further distinguished from the base New Yorker by the two-tone paint scheme, exclusive to the St. Regis, excessive use of chrome, color-keyed two-tone steering wheel, full carpeting, and upgraded fabrics.
This particular St. Regis Hardtop Coupe was purchased from an estate sale in California where it only accumulated 14,000 miles and was last registered in 1979 until its 2021 body-on restoration. Gorgeous paint in original Canyon Tan and Platinum colors was completed by Straightline Customs in Burnsville, MN. Interior seats and panels completed by Lion’s Automotive Upholstery in Omaha, NE. Amazing attention to detail throughout the restoration to include period correct cloth braided wiring. You will not find a better example. Only modifications from stock are a new dual exhaust system with shorty headers, and the oil bath air cleaner converted to modern paper elements.
