Vehicle Description
2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 Pickup
The Dodge Ram SRT-10 was introduced February 13, 2003 but not put
into production until 2004. Unlike the previous Ram Trucks, the
SRT-10 was built solely for the purpose of speed. In fact, in
February 2004 it set both the Guinness World Record and Sports Car
Club of America's record for fastest truck. The previous record
holder, the Ford Lightning, attained a speed of 147.54 mph, while
the SRT-10 reached a high speed of 154.59 mph. The main attraction
of the SRT-10 is its engine, which is an 8.3 Liter V10 Viper
Engine. This engine produces 500 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 525
lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpm. With this engine the truck can reach
a top speed of 154 mph and can accelerate the regular cab SRT-10
from 0 to 60 in 4.9 seconds.
For consignment, a sports car disguised as a family hauling pickup
truck. This truck can certainly haul cargo, but its main theme is
to definitely haul ass and give your passengers one hell of a ride.
A top speed of 154mph you will not be fooling around when going
from the grocery store to the kids soccer game due to the V10 Viper
engine under the hood. This truck is equipped with some bolt ons to
make even more power from that hissing V10. A Paxton Novi
supercharger, a performance camshaft and long tube headers, all the
while presenting in Solar Yellow. For the purists, our consignor
has all the stock parts to include with your purchase if you want a
mere 500hp family hauler. Built for toughness under the RAM
moniker, but no fooling around on the acceleration and speed aspect
and only 1 of 298 built for the model year in this color. Now
that's one seriously rare hauler. HISSSSSSSSS!
Exterior
Bathed in the rarely seen factory applied coating of Solar Yellow,
this truck presents well with only minor stone chips to detract
from the retina searing yellow and custom black painted stripe
complete with ghost flames and a poised to strike viper on the
tailgate. All is appropriate for the verified 36,791 clocked miles.
With its large tall body matching grille, HID headlights, and lower
rounded fenders flanking the central scooped hood and huge front
bumper/aero setup, it looks like a big long sports car. A hood
scoop, raked windshield in tinted glass and all rounded off
surfaces, in all steel, let's go racin'! Add the rear spoiler off
the top of the rear tailgate, big black 22-inch wheels wrapped with
305/40R22 gummy rubbers, and you can run with the best of them.
While being a more-door on a car isn't cool but add the rear doors
to a truck and it's the hottest thing since peanut butter and
bananas got together. A Solar Yellow fiberglass cover is atop the
bed and can be actuated by a remote popper, how's that for
convenience? Underneath, the bed is lined with a Ram logoed fully
encompassing black plastic liner, and I simply can't get enough of
the added read to strike custom airbrushed viper atop the painted
black custom stripe on the tailgate.
Interior
Lots-O conveniences in here with power windows, power locks, power
seats, a Pioneer AM/FM/CD/Navi equipped aftermarket stereo, and A/C
all the creature comforts of home in there. Leather bolsters frame
suede inserts in all black are both very nicely preserved and in
the back is a sprawling bench with more leather and suede. These
seats have been well cared for and show only light age wrinkles on
the drivers outer bolsters. Setting the seating off is yellow
stitching which meshes well with the Solar Yellow inserts clad into
the 4 doors and it even makes an appearance in front of the
passenger on the dash. Between the 2 body hugging front buckets is
a padded top console with cupholders which can be folded up to make
room for a 3rd. The factory leather wrapped and yellow stitched
wheels fronts the dash which has neat-o white faced gauges with
some digital readouts inserted too. A white face AutoMeter SRT oil
temperature gauge has been added to the driver's A-pillar which is
covered in a cream white cloth. This cloth continues up to
encompass the expansive headliner and provides the perfect frame
for the front overhead console and read flip down DVD player. Clean
black carpeting covers the floors and is protected by black
carpeted and yellow highlighted SRT-10 mats.
Drivetrain
Look ...under the hood, it's a Viper engine! Yes, kids hold on
because we have 10 cylinders, (8.3 Liters of them to be exact), to
pump out EFI fed fossils and air to the tune of 500hp. But that was
when this truck rolled off the assembly line. Now a Paxton Novi
2000 supercharger has been bolted on for extra air and fossil
capability. A Comp Cam stage 2 camshaft was installed to help
actuate the valves and a throttle body spacer has been added. On
back is a 48RE 4-speed automatic tranny and a Dana 80 pumpkin with
4.11 gears puts all that power to the pavement. A Viper engine
never looked so good in a truck!
Undercarriage
The usual patina and wear certainly not out of the ordinary is seen
underneath. Sportscar like Bilstein shock absorbers are on along
with independent coil springs in the front and leaf springs with a
2" drop in the rear. Also seen are large caliper power disc brakes
on all 4 corners with new Extreme pads and rotors. Long tube
headers slither their way down from the mighty V10 with shiny
exhaust and Dynomax mufflers snaking its way from front to rear and
ending just under the right side of the rear bumper.
Drive-Ability
A press of the remote start and the Viper V10 roared to life. After
my climb to the body hugging yet comfortable driver's seat but felt
odd sitting up high behind the wheel looking out of what might be
misconstrued as a big rig. But it all came together upon a slip of
the column shifter into D where I raced off to the test track. Here
it performed swimmingly with beautiful unending acceleration, bias
free braking (important!) and good handling because it's a pickup
truck after all! All functions were working just fine, and it has a
real kick when you get a bit leaded with the right foot.
Look! It's a truck...No it's a sports car....No it's actually a
really cool and fast pickup truck with the heart of a Viper V10 EFI
high performance package and the room to haul the whole family. A
Solar Yellow flare if you will. Come to our Hallowed Halls and try
to catch this Viper pickup before it before it strikes...possibly
into the V10 sunset.
