introduced to the Land Rover Defender until 1993, however the basic
Land Rover product was familiar to US enthusiasts thanks to the
vehicles Land Rover offered the US market in the past. This example
is a Defender imported from Italy. The tough, capable Defender sold
elsewhere in the world was known to be a rugged vehicle. Land Rover
proved how tough their vehicles were by organizing an annual Camel
Trophy endurance race. Not only did the race prove the endurance of
the vehicles, but it also highlighted the determination of drivers
who put their trust in the Land Rover vehicles as they traversed
through jungles, and other incredibly tough terrain. Large insects,
dehydration and fatigue were all part of the experience.
Fortunately for you, driving this Land Rover does not come with the
experience of dealing with bird size mosquitoes, or spiders the
size of kittens. You may enjoy this vehicle on US roads, or on some
good 'ol two track trails. Whatever you choose, this Rover will get
you where you need to go. A previous owner added the Camel Trophy
stickers to this Rover, which we assume was because the color of
the paint is very similar to the Sandglow paint used on the Camel
Trophy Land Rovers. Not only does the paint color similar to the
Camel Trophy vehicles help give off a rugged appearance, but a
spare tire on the hood, white letter all terrain tires, brush
guards, and LED lighting go right along with the rugged theme. The
paint finish is glossy and even throughout, the brush guard paint
is in great condition, along with the front and rear bumpers.
Beneath the tire laden bonnet is a 2.5 Liter Turbo Diesel Inline-4
mated to a 5-Speed Manual Transmission. The vehicle runs and drives
exceptionally well. Both the hardtop and a soft top are included in
the sale of the vehicle, with both being in nice condition. The
hardtop has a few points of wear in the paint and the headliner has
a few water spots, while the soft top is in very nice condition:
windows are clear, the top frame is clean, and the top itself is
made of a robust canvas material. Defender 90's did not come with
luxury accouterments, or bells and whistles. While this Defender
has a few extras added, it does not make this a posh vehicle. If a
must have on your list of options is a place to put your Starbucks
latte, this may not be the vehicle for you. The interior features
black seating surfaces, including those on the inward facing bench
seats at the rear. A sturdy, locking center console has been added,
which features an aftermarket stereo, padded armrest, and large
storage cubby. Aftermarket speakers have been added on the lower
portion of the dashboard, and at the rear of the vehicle.
Otherwise, the vehicle remains highly original. Please call if
interested or e-mail with specific questions. Thank you for
looking.
