Vehicle Description
1983 Porsche 928 S - 4.6L V8 - Automatic Transmission - Red Over
Black Interior - Lots of Recent Maintenance - 103k Miles Hitting
showrooms at the start of the era of big hair, baggy clothing,
bright colors, and a growing theme of excess, the 928 was a super
GT car that had unique styling, as well as the ability to impress
in the luxury and performance departments. Add an extra layer of
Aqua Net, and get your Ray Bans and string-back driving gloves out,
the open road is calling. Despite all the exterior hues Porsche
offered at the time, Guards Red seems to be the color that screams
80's Porsche. The 911, 924, 928, and 944 all look excellent wearing
Guards Red. Guards Red over a black leather interior suits this 928
well. This car is a nice example of a 928 which offers the 928's
smooth yet controversial styling, a luxurious leather interior, and
a powerful V8. All items that the 928 cars are known for. We're
happy to offer a well maintained example of a 928 that comes with
service records for items such as brake system checks, wiring
inspections and repair, brake system maintenance, cooling system
maintenance, and new tires. It's all too important that 928's are
well maintained, and this example has been well taken care of. The
interesting shape of the 928 was a result of Porsche engineers
being determined to design a sleek sports car that was able to slip
through the wind with ease. The resulting car is definitely a
unique vehicle that has curves in all the right places. This
particular 928 features front and rear spoilers, smooth Porsche
7-slot alloy wheels, sunroof, fog lamps, and of course the familiar
teardrop-shaped pop up headlights. Unmistakable Porsche stylized
script and purposeful compartmentalized tail lights at the back of
the car are a familiar sight for all other cars in the 928's wake.
The Guards Red paint on the car still pops with color, and is in
very nice condition, bar a few small stone chips at the front side
of the hood. The spoiler at the rear, which on 928's commonly dry
out and develop pin holes as they age, is in beautiful condition.
Lenses at the front of the car are in great condition. Being at the
front of a low slung car, and two of the lenses made of glass,
cracked or pitted lenses in the bumper were a common area of
concern. As you might expect from a GT car, the luxurious interior
is a very comfortable place to be for passengers. Comfortable
leather wrapped seats, plenty of storage cubbies, arm rests, and an
excellent view through the windows are all available to occupants.
The standard stereo in this car has been replaced by a Porsche
enthusiast favorite, Blaupunkt stereo unit. The gauge cluster is
easy to read, and the stylized 928 S logo on the horn pad of the
steering wheel is retro cool. Rear seat passengers will need short
legs to find a trip seated in the back seat comfortable, but
Porsche stylists made sure that the accouterments available to them
are top notch. Leather trim all around, rear HVAC vents, extra
visors, leather wrapped arm rest, stereo speakers, and a storage
cubby are all within reach of those shoehorned in the back seats.
Mounted at the front of the car is a 4.6 Liter V8 mated to an
automatic transmission. An engine at the front of the car was
another oddity for Porsche at the time that the 928 hit showrooms.
Mid and rear engine configurations were Porsche's specialty until
the introduction of the 928. Despite the fact that another portion
of the odd equation which makes up the 928 is that there were 8
cylinders in a V formation under the hood, Porsche produced a
powerful GT car. This car could burn up the Autobahn without
batting an eye. As they should be, 928's are a joy to drive, with
plenty of power underfoot, and luxurious interiors to relax in. The
928 is truly a luxury car. Porsche had some fun with advertising in
the era of this 928, one ad said to think of the Porsche 928 as a
Mercedes with a little
