Vehicle Description
This 1987 Zimmer Golden Spirit practically defines the Neo-Classic
world. It has a beautiful curvaceous body that has remained quite
crisp and clean thanks to the low mileage. The interior has the
best sporting luxuries, like the Nardi steering wheel and leather
Recaro seats. And as you look under the hood, you can see that this
custom is built on the backbone of Ford's legendary fuel-injected
five-oh. It all makes for a true custom car that was truly made for
cruising.
Zimmer made a small miracle... they created classic elegance with
contemporary flair. These are full custom builds done in the
traditional way with hand-crafting and small batches. There are
great details, such as real wire wheels, wide whitewalls, faux
exhaust pipes, wind wings, dual chrome bumpers, and a quad horn
pack. The vinyl roof matches the vinyl trunk, and they are accented
by details like landau bars and wooden slats. It's pure rolling
opulence and excess. That's why they're covered spare wheel well
displays in each fender and another covered spare hump on the rear!
It looks great against the glossy black paint. The body looks clean
and complete, with some hints of age in the overall finish. But
when a vehicle that has averaged under 475 miles annually, it all
shows a nice look of good care and less use. It really has earned
an upper-class distinction, right down to the full pinstriping
package running everywhere from the swopping fenders to the narrow
hood that gives a proper touch of gold to this Golden Spirit.
They sold for well into six figure prices 35 years ago, and so
Zimmer made sure the interior had the feeling of a true luxury
exotic. And with so few miles on the car, that exclusive feeling
remains. It includes a wood-rimmed Nardi sports steering wheel,
beautiful wood panels for the wrapped dash, and power-adjustable
Recaro front seats finished in supple leather. It's loaded with
plenty more features like power windows, power locks, a tilt
steering column, cruise control, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, and
provisions for R134a air conditioning (it will need servicing to
blow cold again.) You will find clues to this car's Mustang roots
in details like the exterior door design or the interior's gauges.
But they don't detract from the overall hand-crafted feel of the
car, and in fact, they seem to be a good reminder that they
developed this opulent machine to truly be driven.
One peek under the hood will reveal the Mustang's famous 5.0-liter
fuel-injected V8. Powerful, versatile, and consistent, this package
means you have a car that looks custom on the outside, and beneath
the skin, it's simple and inexpensive to keep it running in top
condition. This feels strong and smooth on the road. The lengthened
frame yields the kind of luxury ride you'd expect from a car of
this stature. Plus, the power steering, power brakes, front discs,
and four-speed automatic transmission with highway-friendly
overdrive all deliver a modern ride quality in a vintage-style
package.
Premium comfort, true distinction, and easy use all come together
on the kind of car that will get people talking. So don't miss this
