Vehicle Description
The 1956 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan has the right look for a cool
classic cruiser. After all, there's the beautifully intricate trim,
fun details, plenty of interior space, and classic V8 power under
the hood. It makes for an attractive vintage cruiser, especially
for this value price.
This is a stylish-looking classic. It starts with a timelessly
attractive Meadow Mist Green and white two-tone. It's a later
investment that looks good while still having the right amount of
age to make some people think it could be original. Ford's stylists
really defined an entire era with the full-length trim that has a
dip in the driver's door, and because it's a defining line for the
two-tone, it's both stylish and integral. The wide grille,
wraparound chrome bumpers, and Thunderbird-like tail lights all
give this a terrific 1950's authenticity. The whole package is
vintage, right down to the best period-correct cruiser additions,
like the top-mount rear view mirror, whitewall tires, and rear
fender skirts. And yes, the dual exhaust still exits through the
bumper like a T-Bird.
The interior is arguably more distinct than even the exterior. The
seats and door panels were both updated at the same time with a
bold blue and teal two-tone. There's plenty of bright trim in the
doors and a hint of tuck and roll pleating throughout. So it sets
the tone right for a 1950s cruiser. In fact, if you like
authenticity, the rest of the setup feels quite stock everywhere
from the heater controls to the Ford family crest in the center of
the steering wheel. So if your friends like a true vintage feeling
as much as you do, you can really understand the extra appeal that
four doors and plenty of interior space offer.
The Thunderbird badging on the front fender is no accident. Pop the
hood and you'll find a quite tidy 292 cubic-inch Y-block V8 motor.
It's presented quite authentically for this M-code Fairlane,
including Thunderbird script valve covers and the bold red block.
It has been well-maintained in the fundamentals, including the
carburetor, fuel tank, and hoses. That makes for a good driver. In
fact, you'll love the tune of the newer glasspack-style dual
exhaust. And while this likes to give you a classic feeling for the
road, the two-speed automatic transmission keeps it a proper
cruiser.
