fine example of a 1986 Mercury Capri ASC Mclaren convertible,
sister car to the Fox Body Mustang is exceptionally clean, with a
fresh coat of paint, newer interior, side pipes and has had a lot
of attention to the details.
This 1986 Mercury Capri ASC Mclaren features a very desirable
Burgundy painted exterior. Upgraded with very comfortable Corbeau
bucket seats and gray interior all new to this Mclaren. The black
canvas convertible top with a plastic window is new and goes
extremely well with the fresh interior. Additionally with a newer
carpet this is one sharp Mercury Capri in and out.
This high horse has also been upgraded with an aluminum radiator,
new brake pads, and all fluids and filters. The 5.0 - 302 CID V8
engine with a 3-Speed automatic transmission offers a mouthwatering
combination of quickness and acceleration straight from the 80's.
The engine runs strong and transmission is very tight with
excellent shifting. The traditional rear end ensures the stability
and maneuverability that you would expect in a fox body styled
convertible.
ASC McLaren coupes were equipped with the Ford Motorsport B303
camshaft, creating significantly more power than the rated 200 bhp
(149 kW)/210 bhp (157 kW) of the standard 5.0L motors.
Additionally, all coupes were given BFGoodrich Comp T/A radials.
The 225/50/15 low profile size of these tires (as opposed to the
standard 5.0L Capri's 225/60/15) raised the ASC/McLaren Coupe's
effective gear ratio from 3.08:1 to approximately 3.35:1.
These were the quickest cars produced by Ford in 1985 and 1986 with
zero to sixty times well under six seconds and quarter-mile times
in the mid-13 second range. They only produced 557 convertibles
during their 2 year production run, making this a very rare and
collectible vehicle!
Options include convertible top, alloy rally wheels, new radial
tires, A/C, Corbeau seats, back up camera, power steering, power
brakes, AM/FM/Bluetooth player with Ipod hook up, power windows,
power locks. It is hard to find a Mclaren with a custom body kit
and side pipes being rare and even more rare in this condition. Its
5.0 has been meticulously gone over and cared for and dressed up
with chrome making this an amazing show car as well as a daily
driver. All hoses and belts have been replaced. Additionally the
engine compartment and under carriage are in excellent
condition.
