Vehicle Description
This 1966 Shelby Cobra Replica is a serious speed machine with the
best in everything you need in a Cobra. It has all the right
pieces, including a performance-built V8, strong five-speed, and
race-ready style over every inch. Plus, there are just the right
elements of added flair to make it as fun to show as it is to
drive.
The blue has a deep and dark tone that makes you understand it's a
meaner machine. But there's also a clearcoat luster with a nice
metallic element of a true classic. It radiates nicely in the
sunshine with all the chrome pieces to make a great impression. It
gets the vintage Cobra details right, like the quick-jack bumpers,
hood scoop, roll hoop, racing gas cap, and Halibrand-style wheels.
And those silver racing stripes were painted on top to make sure
the race-ready style is a lasting one. With clean glass and good
body lines, this one delivers the right feeling you want in a
quality replica of an icon. But part of the Cobra's mystique is
that it gets to own the asphalt, and so the overall finish will
never make you too nervous to drive it.
The interior has a clean black style that wants to get down to
speedy business. In fact, the sale even comes with a racing tonneau
to go over the passenger seat. You have low-back bucket seats, full
racing harnesses, a proper Cobra shifter, and a wood-rimmed sports
steering wheel. Plus, the dash is dominated by crisp Auto meter
gauges, including the Cobra-correct reverse speedo and tach. Even
with this competition-focused attitude, there are some nice extras,
like the well-finished doors with map pockets, full plush carpeting
- including the trunk, and an iPod cable for a direct hookup to an
amp and speakers
The engine bay has the same level of added distinction as the rest
of this car. So you have nice details like the bold blue Ford
block, a Carroll Shelby signature branded air grabber, Shelby
ribbed valve covers, and an overall tidy style. The specs we were
told on the build include the 351 Cleveland V8 was bored .040 over
to 410ci total. It was fortified with a Scat steel crank, Scat
forged I-beams, Icon forged pistons, Mahle rings, Clevite 77
bearings, a Comp Cams Mutha Thumpr hydraulic camshaft, and more. It
also has the right supporting pieces, like an MSD ignition, a
Melling timing chain, and a Milodon oil pan. The dual-line Holley
double pumper is mounted on an Edelbrock intake and lets the motor
inhale deeply, and we know you'll love the growl as it exhales out
of the side pipes. This V8 does a great job of moving the
lightweight fiberglass body, and you can stay in the powerband with
ease thanks to the five-speed manual transmission. The tubular
A-arm front suspension, strong boxed steel frame supports, thick
rear sway bar, adjustable coilovers, and four-wheel disc brakes all
come together for quite a competent sports roadster.
This is the Cobra that delivers on the right iconic style and
details while also giving you the proper big power feel. So don't
