Vehicle Description
This 1980 Mercedes-Benz 450SL represents a V8-powered luxury
drop-top that also has the right feeling of a true classic. So you
can appreciate the old-money kind of appearance, the premium
appearance of two roofs, and even some unique upgrades...
especially when it's all offered for a value price.
We love the R107 SL because it has a robust kind of style. You see
it in the well-creased lines and well-fitting body panels. This
example even has some subtle but premium details like the
full-length golden pinstripe, polished wheel arches, and
later-style 15-inch alloy wheels. We like the look of black paint
on a sophisticated classic like this. There is room for improvement
with the finish if you're not looking for a patina kind of style.
But we kind of like how that helps tell this Benz's story. It's
currently on an actual mileage title, and we were even told it was
put into storage for years. That makes for a premium classic with a
barn-find vibe. And so the imperfections you'll find inside and out
add to the personality. And if you instead want to have a more
traditional upper-class cruiser, the value price leaves room in
your budget to get both personal and even more premium.
The black folding soft top is a good pairing against the black
paint, and the color-matched hardtop makes this look like a coupe.
But these SLs are best as convertibles. So you'll love going with
no roof at all on every sunny day. In fact, the exterior's golden
pinstripe goes quite well with the tan interior. And as you take a
look at the leather upholstery, you'll notice two very distinct
features. First, they added a back seat just like the European
versions of this car. Second, the front seats have been fully
upgraded. And while the factory front buckets were comfortable, you
can just tell that these really know how to hug your body. There
are additional luxury features like cruise control power windows,
provisions for factory air conditioning (it will need servicing),
and an upgraded AM/FM/cassette stereo with CD changer.
The engine bay has the correct and robust 4.5-liter SOHC motor with
Bosch fuel injection. This was one of the largest Mercedes
powerhouses of its era, and they made sure it had the right level
of torque to move this convertible with authority. It's built for a
grand touring kind of feeling, and so you have the right
fundamentals, like power steering, a three-speed automatic
transmission, and four-wheel power disc brakes for easy any-time
driving.
Complete with the owner's manual, this is the classic R107 SL that
has an aged-in classic style that feels like a cool old-money kind
of car. And the value price means you can transform it into a new
money cruiser, too. Either way, it's an icon with unique features
that you know will be a lot of fun. Call today!!!
