In 2011, Porsche introduced the best analog version of a Porsche
911 for the era, created as the last hurrah for the 997 as it
reached the end of its production run. The GT2 RS featured a 3.6
liter Twin Turbo 620HP power-plant, a 6-speed manual transmission,
and rear-wheel drive. The RS model emphasized lightweight
components throughout, including a carbon fiber trunk lid and rear
wing, lighter door panels, battery, and flywheel. Weight savings
for the GT2 RS were 155 pounds over the previous GT2 model.
Accelerating to 60 in just over 3 seconds with a top speed of 205
mph, the GT2 RS shocked the automotive industry and was celebrated
by recording a new lap record at the Nrburgring (7:18.00).
Issued in a limited quantity of just 500 units worldwide, the RS
rose quickly as a highly sought-out instant classic. Making full
power at 6,800rpm with a screaming redline of 8,000rpm, this was
the ultimate 911. Paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, and
rear-wheel-drive, the 997 GT2 RS is still considered one of the
most awesome 911s and still is today!
was built on December 6, 2010, then delivered and registered in
January 2011. Finished in Carrara White, the RS includes a carbon
fiber hood, front grill inserts, side air intakes, side view
mirrors, rear turbo wing, rear diffuser, and optional carbon fiber
front fenders. The interior of the GT2 RS was ordered in full Black
leather, with black Alcantara seat inserts, door handles,
headliner, steering wheel, gear shift knob, and additional carbon
fiber trim. This significant GT2 RS represents a highly optioned,
low mileage, investment grade collectible, suitable for any
significant Porsche collection. As a tremendous bonus, the owner's
manual and underside of the carbon fiber hood are signed by Andreas
Preuninger, the man at the helm of Porsche's GT program who has
overseen virtually every iconic 21st century Porsche.
Upon arriving at Canepa the GT2 RS was subjected to the Canepa
Difference process in which it was test driven by Bruce Canepa and
then comprehensively inspected. Upon inspection, the vehicle was
found to be in immaculate like-new condition inside and out as if
it had just come straight out of the factory, a true testament to
the extreme care that was put into this vehicle's preservation
among its previous owners. As well, the car will come with all
owner's manuals, a complete set of service books, and the COA.
With extremely low mileage, a limited production volume, and a
620-horsepower engine paired to a 6-speed manual transmission and
rear-wheel-drive, the 911 GT2 RS 3.6 is an extreme high-performance
collectible Porsche for the road.
