Vehicle Description
1939 Ford Roadster
Imagine a Hot Rodded car that has more unique lines than the
original, is maintenance free fiberglass, allows the builder to put
any engine within its confines they want, and has the reliability
of any production car. A driver friendly car that is uniquely the
builder's and none other like it. Hey WAKE UP!! We have a car for
you!!
All sourced from Coast to Coast body and chassis to start, bathe it
in Indy Yellow Pearl, add in some muscle under the hood, C5
corvette suspension with air ride added, custom wheels, a pop off
soft top and a fully complemented interior all clad in leather, and
you will be the belle of the ball. Not to mention a feature write
up in Street Rodder magazine, there's nothing sour going on with
this lemon beauty.
Exterior
All fiberglass smoothed over and sanded to perfection, then bathed
in PPG Indy Yellow Pearl paint, this customized body has been
chopped and lowered. Teardrop headlights, a stylized V grille
complete with horizontal ribs, a smoothed, pancaked and beaked
hood, shaped doors and a soft top, and this could be your own
personal lemondrop...car. No bumpers to interfere with the lines of
the front and rear and cleanly inserted teardrop tail lamps on back
with twin exhaust tips right in the center, all accented by the
long sweeping tail, trunk lid, and pointed rear fenders. Let's
throw in some snazzy running boards down low, add a black canvas
soft top which is removable, and has a plastic rear window, and our
eyes are "juiced" with excitement. And lest we forget, 17-inch
polished Corvette Z06 wheels for the front, and 18 inchers for the
rear, and it is go and show time!
Interior
A remotely popped swing of the suicide doors which are covered in
Baltic Blue leather with yellow accenting along with a billet
aluminum insert to hold the blue speaker and tweeter and is
emulated by the leather buckets courtesy of a Mazda Miata and we
are in a special interior. Between the seats is a custom brushed
aluminum console that runs wild, and houses the Lokar shifter,
Vintage Air and heat, power window toggles and 4 independent
toggles for the air ride. Nice clean black face gauges with white
numbering and red hash marks show off within a yellow fielded dash
front. All very clean and simple design with chrome and black air
vents in the round, and clean factory like lines for extra
accenting. Blue carpeting is covering the floor, and the underside
of the top is also nice. The trunk is also custom covered in blue
leather with orange accents with the iconic Corvette crossed
flags.
Drivetrain
5.7 Liters of 1998 Corvette LS1 power resides under the yellow
hood. This is dressed to the nines with Indy Yellow Pearl covers
that accents the black engine just perfectly and for a little
bling, a polished cold air intake has been added for the inhale. On
the back is a Tremec T56 6-speed manual transmission which sends
power through the 98 Corvette rear axle with 3.42 gears to drive
the rear fatties, and smoke 'em if ya got 'em applies here. SPAL
cooling fans are on to keep this fuel injected mill nice and
cool.
Undercarriage
All wonderfully clean, custom and near perfect underside showing
off the Coast to Coast Chassis. Modified independent Corvette front
suspension is showing, and on back is a modified Corvette
independent arrangement. The transverse leaf springs have been
removed from this suspension and now an Air Ride Technologies
Shockwave air ride system provides the infinitely adjustable ride.
Power disc brakes are within the ZO6 wheels all around with Baer
13" brakes being up front and LS1 headers feed 2.5" Flowmaster
exhaust which works its way rearward under the chassis.
Drive-Ability
Low and slow or fast and loose, this car offers up both options. It
starts right up and runs just fab, with a rumbling cruise, and
tight ride. The interior is comfy and all functional on the power
conveniences, and the 6-speed manual shifted smoothly. Power disc
brakes brought this sunkist lemon to an abrupt halt.
Let's see, looks the part, runs like a clock, PPG paint, a Street
Rodder magazine feature and a great rod, how about taking the role
of the Lemon Drop Kid less the swindling? Eat your heart out Bob
