For Sale: 1955 Chevrolet Cameo in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

The thought was to design a truck that got you through the workweek and could still impress a date on a Saturday night. Body off frame restoration in 2012. Only 1,500 miles since.

EXTERIOR: Very unique factory custom bed. It has fiberglass side panels, chrome trim at the front of the bed, the rear of the truck is very stylish. Cadillac inspired headlight eyebrows; the egg crate grill was inspired by Ferrari. Very clean and solid body. It has a windshield visor, emblems were removed for a clean look. Dupont ChromaBase black with 4 coats of clear. In front the grill and bumper sparkle. In back the chrome shines bright. Windows were tinted. New weatherstrips. Chrome baby moon wheels look new.

INTERIOR: Gloss black dash with a billet insert, custom gauges, factory radio. Heater controls and knobs sparkle. Chrome tilt column with a custom wheel and billet levers. The seat is rebuilt and upholstered. It has optional headliner and added seatbelts.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: 350 Chevy motor with an Edelbrock intake and carb, and HEI ignition system. Dressed up with Holley valve covers and air cleaner. It has a chrome alternator. Options include power steering and brakes. It's clean, proper, and simple.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The tailgate opens with 2 chrome levers on the backside, it has a counterweight cable system to support it. Inside the box is straight, gloss black. It has tubbed wheel wells for a wider tire. Oak trim on the floor with stainless trim.

UNDERSIDE: It has a front clip from a 77 Chevy with independent suspension. The front end was rebuilt, has a swaybar. It has air ride system, air bags in place of the springs. In back it is a 4 link system with tubular control arms, shocks have been replaced. Dual exhaust with glass pack style mufflers. Bottom of the motor is clean, has a high torque starter and a chrome flywheel cover. Upgraded with a Turbo 350 automatic transmission. In back is a narrowed Ford 9 inch rear with cruising 2.75 gears.

I think the Cameo is a cool truck. It's given credit as the first sport truck. Today people deck out their trucks as much as cars. Back in the day they were just work trucks, the Cameo changed that. Ready to drive and enjoy.

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you will be given a 1 year membership.
