Vehicle Description
This 1986 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat 4x4 gets it right when you want a
classic that's right for work and play. That means a well-built
302ci V8, an enhanced 4x4 suspension, and a darkly intimidating
style. And with features like an overdrive transmission, it also
knows how to settle into the life of a classic cruiser.
A lifted 4x4 is always going to look mean. And the black paint with
matte black off-road bed decal is a very cool look. The whole
package is quite stylish with chrome bumpers, a glossy finish, a
short bed, good body lines, and upgraded 15-inch alloys. But it's
not about being a glam pickup. This one is about looking fun, and
therefore, it's also easy to get down to plenty of fun. So it also
has the hardware to back up that feeling. The bed is fully lined,
and you have a diamond plate lockbox. And the trailer hitch has
good supporting components like LED lights and tow mirrors.
The interior has the right classic truck vibe. You have
Lariat-level wood-like trim, a smooth dash pad, and a floor shifter
for the 4x4 to take proper control of the situation. And we love
the vent windows and sliding rear glass for those old-school truck
breezes. There are areas you can improve, like restoring the bench
seat or repairing the air conditioning. But you have a good overall
feel for a solid pickup. And there have been investments in places
to make this a better cruiser, like the wood-rimmed custom steering
wheel and an AM/FM/CD stereo with Bluetooth.
Under the hood is Ford's 302 cubic-inch V8. These hardy motors love
upgrades, and so this is a proper performance build with a Holley
four-barrel carburetor, a Weiand intake, and a more aggressive Comp
Cams camshaft. And a nice set of headers add extra power and fumble
as they feed the Borla dual exhaust. We're told this was rebuilt
only about 5k miles ago, and it has the strong nature to back up
the feeling of a good investment. Plus, there are good supporting
components like an HEI distributor and an aluminum radiator. Plus,
there are good everyday features like power steering, power brakes,
front discs, and a four-speed automatic transmission with
overdrive. The two-speed 4x4 transfer case keeps this quite a
useful truck. And the Rough Country lift kit and Mickey Thompson
Baja tires add both style and substance to the full off-road
package.
Dark, powerful, and capable, this is a fun Ford F-150. So you know
