Vehicle Description

Very clean western truck. 350/automatic, working factory A/C, factory gauges, deluxe interior. Upgraded with lowered suspension, 18-inch wheels and tires, and hard shell tonneau cover. Runs and drives great, sits right, looks awesome. Sometimes a truck just looks right. The way this one sits, the wheel and tire package, and the hard shell tonneau cover all contribute to a slightly custom look that doesn't color too far outside the lines. Dressed in basic white, it isn't trying too hard and all the exterior trim is OEM so the overall impression is simply a nice old pickup. And that's not the wrong assessment, as this truck spent a majority of its life out west in Arizona and as a result it's extremely clean inside and out. The flanks are laser straight, the cab corners are solid, the doors fit properly, and the white paint shines up beautifully. We believe it's an older repaint but it may even be original paint-either way, it shows better than expected and needs nothing to be enjoyed right away. There's some newer brightwork, including the bumpers, and the black strips running along the rockers gives it a sporting look. All the original emblems are still in place, including the one on the front fender advertising the 350 cubic inch V8 inside. No modifications, no shaved details, no chopped roof, and it looks exactly right because of it.The interior is just as clean and well-tailored as the exterior. OEM is the rule here, with correct seat covers and door panels that have an old west vibe to them and matching black carpets on the floor. The familiar 4-spoke steering wheel is attached to a tilt column, so it's easy to get comfortable, and the gauges in these trucks are arguably the best-looking dials of the period. All the gauges work except the tachometer, which is disabled due to the electronic ignition system under the hood. There's also a Retro Sound radio that slots neatly into the original dash without any modifications and gives a pretty good impersonation of the original AM unit. And you'll note that those vents are for the factory A/C, which has been recently serviced and works properly with an R134a refrigerant conversion. Despite its blue collar roots, this is a pickup that's comfortable enough to drive every day and finished well enough to stand tall at the local cruise night. The 350 cubic inch V8 under the hood is a reliable powerplant that makes the relatively lightweight C10 feel quick and agile around town. There are a few minor modifications, including a big aluminum radiator to keep things cool, but for the most part it looks like a vintage Chevrolet should. There's a 4-barrel carburetor on top with a chrome open-element air cleaner for a racy, well-dressed look, and Chevy Orange on the block always looks right. An aluminum battery box tidies things up in that corner and it still exhales through factory cast iron manifolds for durability. There's a rumbling dual exhaust system with oval tips from a Chevelle SS out back, but it quiets down on the road so this is a pleasing truck to drive. There are new components in the front end, power steering and power disc brakes, and a crisp-shifting TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. It feels like a set of 3.73 gears in back, which make this truck feel punchy around town, but with those big 18-inch wheels, it's still reasonable on the highway. Check out the completely solid rockers and cab corners, the super clean bed floor, and thanks to rear coil springs these are still some of the best-riding trucks you can own. 18-inch chrome wheels look exactly right and carry fat 265/50/18 performance radials all around. These trucks are red hot right now and this one gets all the basics right. It's fun to drive, looks awesome, and remains a practical machine to have around the house. We love the combination of the low-key color combination and awesome stance, and few vehicles we've had recently generate the kind of attention that this truck does. If you're looking for a great old truck to enjoy, this one deserves a closer look.
