For Sale: 2013 Morgan 3-Wheeler in Los Angeles , California

Vehicle Description

What we have here is a highly rare edition of a cult classic vehicle beloved by enthusiasts the world over. Racer-like engineering has earned the car a wonderful reputation, and Superdry's aesthetic touch further pushes the car into the 'gentleman racer' category. We are thrilled to offer this exceptional Morgan for auction, and with less than 400 miles on the clock, someone will have a showpiece for many, many years to come.

Vehicle Story

As the signature product of Morgan from 1911 to 1952, the distinctive 3-Wheeler inspired an entirely new generation six decades later with a new reinterpretation of these motoring icons, introduced at the march 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Featuring torpedo-shaped two-seater bodywork, the reincarnated Morgan 3-Wheeler featured a 2.0-liter S&S V-Twin engine sending a healthy 115 factory-rated horsepower to the rear wheel via a Mazda-sourced 5-speed manual gearbox including a torque damper. Weighing only 550 kilograms (1,212 pounds), the reborn 3-Wheeler delivered electrifying performance including zero to 60 mph acceleration in just 4.5 seconds and a 115-mph terminal velocity.

Designed and purpose-built for pure, undistilled driving pleasure with vintage visuals and modern performance, the new Morgan 3-Wheeler created an instant sensation and reportedly garnered 850 deposits from hopeful buyers at introduction. Customer deliveries commenced for Europe in February 2012 and American deliveries began in June 2012, with the first imported three-wheeler displayed at New York City and the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance.

Established in 2003 by Cult Clothing Co. co-founder Julian Dunkerton and James Holder of Bench skatewear, the vintage inspired Superdry clothing firm opened its first store at London’s Covent Garden in 2004. Immediately expanding throughout Britain, Superdry quickly went global under Theo Karpathios. By 2012, the ambitious Superdry company collaborated with the formerly and famously traditional Morgan on a special limited-edition 3-Wheeler, represented in fine form by the compelling example we are thrilled to offer.

Vehicle Overview

One of only 200 examples produced, this 2012 Morgan 3-Wheeler Superdry Edition is a compelling example of Morgan’s reborn 3-Wheeler in every possible respect, with the added benefit of the Superdry cosmetic upgrades. A Superdry-branded leather jacket was also included with each example, but as our seller is the second owner, they report that the original buyer must’ve kept the jacket for themselves. It will not be included in the sale. No bother, as the machine itself is far more interesting anyway.

Exterior

The elemental, torpedo-styled Morgan 3-Wheeler is simply captivating to all onlookers with its adventurous presence. Special Superdry Edition features include military aircraft-style “Super Dry Jpn.” graphics, rear Japanese scripts, and Japanese “Rising Sun” and British “Union Jack” flag emblems over a Superdry Edition-exclusive Matte Silver paint finish. Other choice accents include the racy checkered flag stripes across the front fenders and White painted “S-Dry-Jpn.” radiator motif. Other highlights include the chrome radiator shell, wrapped exhaust headers, full-length dual exhaust pipes with Black perforated heat shields, and “Superdry” plaques.

Interior

Trimmed in handsomely quilted Brown leather upholstery, this rare Superdry Edition Morgan 3-Wheeler’s open cockpit also features a vintage-style Superdry logo to the steering-wheel hub. Aircraft-style instruments and a vintage-style steering wheel heighten the Morgan’s decided air of adventure.

Mechanical

Resting at the head of this metal body is the 2.0-liter ‘X-Wedge’ V-Twin motor. Interestingly enough, the motor has been constructed with a 56-degree V-angle instead of the more traditional 45-degree angle. Wisconsin-based motorcycle engine manufacturer S&S built the motor, and they selected the 56-degree V to allow for larger pistons. Furthermore, clever internal construction from S&S also allowed the pushrods to run almost parallel to the valves, a design choice that allowed them to wring even more power out of the tiny motor.

History Highlights

Currently a Texas Tittle and bought in CA initially.
