Vehicle Description
Price slashed $3k! This looks like a 50k mile vehicle! This is
hard-to-find highly-sought-after seemingly-run-forever 2001 Lexus
LX 470.All original paint (no evidence of any repainting),
near-mint condition - it might do well in a club concours. This
beauty has never been off-road. The mileage is largely from weekly
round-trips from Groveland, CA to LAX (700 miles) and SFO (300
miles) by a 40-year career female airline attendant - who averaged
18 mpg on these trips. She bought out the lease of a close friend in
2004. The only reason it's for sale is that she bought a LX570 from
another friend. Certified accident-free by AutoCheck, with an
AutoCheck Score of 75 (vs 44-64 norm). Extensive service records
and all books and keys; always serviced by Lexus. Always mounted
with Michelin tires filled with nitrogen (we have customers with
F250s who claim 125k-150k miles on these). The tires have 50%
remaining life. This LX470 has always been garaged in a large
private plane hangar and has never had a single leak onto the
floor. Flaws: all that we could find are shown in close-up photos
after the VIN plate photo. Note: this vehicle has been driven an
annual average of less than 11,000 miles, the vast majority to LAX
and SFO; the flight attendant and her Captain partner always had
three other vehicles for short shopping trips, etc. Experts have
estimated that LX470s will go 500,000 miles if well taken care of.
This one has always been serviced by Toyota/Lexus on time. The Lexus
LX 470 is one of the few vehicles that can combine the panache and
comfort of a luxury car with the off-road prowess of mountain goat.
High-end SUVs from Mercedes-Benz and BMW dont offer serious
off-road capability. The Lexus LX 470 is powered by one of the best
V8s in the business and offers crisp handling, as well as a
luxurious ride. The interior is elegant, well equipped, and the
kind of environment you wish your house had. Better still, it is
built with precision and the highest quality standards.Changes for
the 2001 LX 470 include an optional (which this one has) DVD
navigation system that includes a (truly remarkable sounding)
nine-speaker Mark Levinson audio system. This package even allows
you to watch DVD movies on the navigation screen when the
transmission is in P (for Park). The audio portion of the movie can
be played over the system while youre moving, though. The sound
system also comes with a six-CD changer. Edmunds.com: This V8 is
one of the smoothest engines (of any size or configuration) we've
ever experienced, maintaining its stately composure from idle to
redline. While its engine and much of its technology (skid control,
traction control and brake assist) are shared with the Land
Cruiser, the LX 470 does outdo its coach-class sibling with its
Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and Adjustable Height Control
(AHC). AVS is a semi-active shock absorber system with five
settings; at one end of the range is the float and wallow of a
Buick Dynaride and, at the other, the jarring response of a Ford
Super Duty pickup. After a setting has been selected, AVS adjusts
the ride based on road surfaces, and steering, acceleration and
braking input in order to create ride quality tailored to the
driver's preferences. There's a reason that there are fewer and
fewer of these on the market: they keep getting bought up and
exported out of the country where they easily handle the extreme
conditions in other parts of the world.Summary: Quiet and refined
demeanor, capable backwoods performer, slick adjustable suspension,
splendid interior materials, Lexus build quality. We offer this
timeless cult beauty for $12,900. Engine: 4.7-Liter V8, 235
