Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1985 Mercedes-Benz 380SL
Roadster. Finished in the attractive shade of Manganese Brown
Metallic with a brown canvas convertible top and tan leather
interior, this R107 has been owned by the same Georgia family since
new and only has 32,000 original miles. The present owner's father
bought this car at RBM and enjoyed it as an occasional nice weather
weekend driver. Clean CarFax with no accidents. We believe the
paint to be original. Excellent original underside with no known
rust. Both tops in good condition. Very nice Bundt wheels wearing
Michelins.
Interior is likewise all original with a crack-free dash and
excellent wood. Original leather seats have not been dyed. A/C has
been converted to R134a and is blowing cold. All gauges are
working. Original Becker cassette stereo is inop. Partial owner's
books, original hang tags, both top handles, tool roll and first
aid kit are included.
Under the hood is a 3.8 liter V8 mated to a four-speed automatic
transmission. Unlike the early US-market 3.8 liter engines with the
problematic single-row timing chain, the later 3.8s like this left
the factory with a double-row timing chain good for at least
100,000 miles of service. This 380SL runs and drives well (and it
feels stronger than most 380s we've driven, likely due to the low
original mileage).
