This is the last iteration and the ultimate refinement of the 1963
Lancia Appia Sport Zagato on the highly desirable shorter
wheelbase. This is available for public sale for the first time in
40 years and one of only 200 made. This has been part of a large
collection of important motorcars in the Los Angeles area owned by
a very knowledgeable collector of rare and highly original
examples. This Lancia is no exception and does not disappoint. It
wears its correct and original California "Black Plates" helping to
attest to its provenance. This Zagato was bought by the present
owner about 40 years ago in Newport Beach, CA. It had previously
been owned by the well known TV Producer, Arthur Vitarelli , who
made scores of shows including Mary Poppins, Zorro and The Love
Bug. Mr. Vitarelli would often drive the Zagato from Newport Beach
to the studios (at a time when traffic was rare in Southern
California). The Pale Green livery is a repaint from about seven
years ago and is still in very nice and serviceable condition. The
glass, chrome and stainless trim are all original and in good
condition. We love the fastback rooflines and the Frenched
taillights. The Appia Sport was the design inspiration of the young
Ercole Spada who had just joined Zagato. It was his mission to
adapt the Appia GTE bodywork to the shorter, 92.5 inch wheelbase (a
full 6.3 inches in wheelbase and 8 inches shorter overall than the
Zagato GTE). The result is stunning! The interior is in very nice
condition overall, with the original black leather and carpet being
replaced a couple years ago. Black Wilton wool carpet was installed
in the front of the passenger compartment with the original black
carpeting in the rear somewhat faded. The original Blaupunkt AM/FM
stereo is installed and not presently working. The Lancia Appia is
powered by the more powerful Series 3 V4 1.1 liter engine that
produces 60 hp. It features a four speed manual transmission with
synchromesh in the top three gears. According to the owner, the
Lancia is in good overall mechanical condition. The fuel tank has a
non-original inside tank that was installed years ago. This Zagato
comes complete with NOS suspension components as well and
historical documentation from the seller. The odometer is
displaying 6,758 miles, but the true mileage is unknown. For more
details and information, please call or text Harry Clark at

Lancia remains with its present owner in the Los Angeles vicinity.
