For Sale: 1936 Ford Deluxe in Orange, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

The flathead V8 Ford was introduced in 1932 and the rest is history. It instantly became one of the most popular cars in the world, not only because of its low price, but because of its amazing style and very powerful 85 horsepower engine that could outrun any car on the road at the time, even some of the most expensive. Each year from 1932 on the Ford was given a facelift but for the 1935 model year it was drastic with more modern sleek round fender design, completely redesigned dashboard and a completely new modern body design. While 1935 was a wonderful design there was still room for improvement, so for 1936 Ford pulled out all the stops. To many early V8 collectors 1936 is the ultimate V8 Ford. Having the sleek art deco design with a rakish windshield, updated “Vee” shaped grille, bullet headlights with bubble glass lenses and the newly introduced wide five lug artillery wheels. 1936 Fords have it all. In terms of open body styles for 1936, everyone knows that there was a sporty roadster with no side windows and a rumble seat as well as a 2 seater cabriolet with roll up windows and a rumble seat like the roadster, but many are unaware that Ford also offered a “Club Cabriolet” which is a 4 seater convertible with a trunk instead of a rumble seat that wasn’t introduced until mid year 1936. Only 4,616 club cabriolets were produced as compared to the regular two seat cabriolet which Ford produced over 14,000 of for 1936. Today 1936 club cabriolets are seldom seen and are really a beautiful design. In fact, the club cabriolet looks more proportional in design than the other models as with the elongated passenger compartment for the rear seat it gives the impression that the rear of the car is shorter making the car look more appealing. On the other open cars for 1936 they have a short nose and a very long tail which is the opposite of what is proportionally appealing. The club cabriolet stands out form the rest in rarity and looks.

Offered here is one of these very rare 1936 Ford Deluxe Cabriolets that is just out of a long time ownership. wearing an older restoration it still presents wonderfully. It is apparent that this car was always a good original car that was always taken care of. According to the previous owner it was restored over 30 years ago, but it still presents really well. Finished in Washington blue with brown leather interior and a tan canvas top this car really looks wonderful. Mechanically this car is really super, the engine runs really smooth and super quiet. It really couldn't be any better. It has been upgraded with an alternator and auxiliary electric fan as well for in traffic driving. Overall this is a very nice well kept and rare 1936 Ford Deluxe club cabriolet.
