Vehicle Description
Classic Car Addict is excited to present this 1996 Buick Roadmaster
wagon for sale in our Mesa, AZ showroom. It's fitting that the
full-size American station wagon-once the ruler of the turnpike,
now a long-forgotten memory buried under the crashing wave of SUVs,
minivans, and crossovers-received a Viking funeral with the Buick
Roadmaster Estate wagon. Each and every 1994, 1995 and 1996 example
of the Roadmaster Estate came standard with the same 5.7L LT1 V8
engine found under the hood of the Chevrolet Corvette, as well as
the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird F-body twins. Modified
somewhat from Vette tune, it still pushed out a healthy 260hp and
300 lb-ft of torque, which were impressive numbers in an era where
BMW was still offering less than that in the M3. The factory Bright
White color seems like an ideal pairing for the classic wood
paneling you expect in the family wagon. And this one even lives up
to its Buick heritage with a premium look that includes a band of
brightwork that encircles the whole car. The vintage look hides the
modern look of this Roadmaster. After all, the rounded design was
one of Buick's most streamlined looks. The tinted windows show that
this Estate Wagon also has a little more attitude than others. And
the classic American Racing wheels with gold line whitewalls not
only pay tribute to the cruising heritage of the station wagon, but
it's also a reminder of the special V8 that's under the hood. The
medium beige leather interior has a nice coordinating tone with the
exterior. It all has a well-respected look you want in a premium
Buick. In fact, because these were expensive when new, it's great
to see it with plenty of premium features, like power front seats,
power locks, power windows, anti-theft system, and the premium
factory AM/FM/cassette stereo. You may have also noticed that this
has some great old-school wagon features. Some are great for
showing off, like the passenger sunroof. Others are nice for
practicality, like the rear-facing third row seat that brings the
seating total up to eight. And thanks to modern R134a air
conditioning, everyone gets to ride in cool comfort. But you don't
need the full family to appreciate this Roadmaster. The front seat
has a fold-down cup holder armrest to give you a bucket-like level
of comfort. And the motor really makes this a driver's machine.
Under the hood is in an engine bay that looks like a 1996-time
capsule. Below the factory plastic covers is the 5.7-liter LT1 V8
engine that is believed to be original to the car. Yes, this is the
same type of fuel-injected powerplant that was available in the
Corvette and Impala SS. That means plenty of power whenever you
need it, but the kind of quiet operation that keeps in good
standing with neighbors. This powerful and luxury dual nature is
best felt on the open road. You have a four-speed automatic
transmission with a highway-ready overdrive, and the suspension is
set up for grand touring. Plus, the power steering, cruise control,
and power brakes w/discs up front are all perfect for the long
haul. "The last of its kind". "An end of an era". "The final
chapter". These may be cliches but are nevertheless appropriate
when describing the 1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon. Don't miss
