Vehicle Description
STK 3289 1960 Studebaker Lark VIII
The Studebaker Lark was produced between 1957 and 1966. It was the
first 'compact' car of the generation, preceding the Falcon,
Corvair and Valiant. The Lark was based simply on the structure of
the earlier full-sized Studebaker, but scaled down in size. The
Lark VIII concept, a V8 powered compact, was unique to the times.
Just under 5,500 Lark VIII convertibles were produced in 1960 and
this Lark VIII is a nice, partially restored example of that great
model. The current owner has had this Studebaker for over 30 years.
The Lark has had a respray of Suntone Yellow that is in fair
condition. The chrome and stainless are in good shape as is the
black power convertible top. The restored black vinyl interior
appears original right down to the rolled/pleated style upholstery.
There are factory gauges plus an additional gauge package and seat
belts have been added for safety. An original Studebaker AM radio
that sits comfortably in the dash, but needs a little love. This
Lark VIII convertible is powered by the Studebaker 259ci OHV V8
that was rated at 180hp/260lb/ft with a 2-barrel Stromberg
carburetor. The owner states that the engine has not been rebuilt.
A Flight-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission transfers power to
what is believed to be a Dana 'Twin-Traction' (TT) positraction
differential with 3.31:1 gears. Steering is power assisted and
brakes are manual hydraulic 4-wheel drum (10"). BFGoodrich
Silvertown wide-white bias-ply tires are mounted on 15" factory
steel wheels w/full hubcaps. This is a solid, very original
Studebaker Lark VIII convertible. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
