Vehicle Description
A black 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is a true American icon
thanks to Hollywood. But when you see a T-top coupe with a
four-speed and enhanced V8 this is the kind of car you want to
start a legend of your own.
We could continue to make Smokey and the Bandit movie references
about a black Trans Am with gold trim, but the simple fact is that
these were so cool-looking that they were destined to be legendary
even without Hollywood. The upgraded black paint has a nice gloss
to be a memorable outlaw, and it has enough age to it that many
people would mistake it for a factory application. This also makes
a nice backdrop for the gold pinstriping. It follows all the main
lines of the car, including around the fender flares, windows, and
accents the beak-like front end to really make this Firebird look
like it's flying down the highway. Of course, the best bird is the
fire-breathing hood Phoenix that everyone looks for on these T/As,
and as expected, this one is finished in a bold gold. But arguably,
the best golden shine comes from the iconic snowflake-style wheels.
Plus, as a proper Trans Am, you get everything else you love - from
the shaker on the hood to the full-width rear spoiler.
The interior was also upgraded to black to give you a full midnight
machine. The clean and dark style makes this quite inviting. But
while there are plenty of people who will want to go for a ride,
you don't need any of them to have fun in this T/A. The high-back
bucket seat, armrest center console, sports steering wheel, and
full gauges in the machine-turned dash are what make the Trans Am
awesome. You even have nice details like the working courtesy
lights and T-tops storage bags. And the AM/FM/CD stereo means
upgraded driving music. This has an awesome recipe for a true
driver. After all, you can take out the T-tops, crank up the music,
and enjoy the feeling of the wind increasing as you row through the
gears.
The engine bay looks stock at first glance. After all, you have the
bold Pontiac turquoise block for the 400 cubic-inch V8, and it has
the cool shaker-style topper. But dig a little deeper. This has
go-fast goodies like a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock
intake, and long tube headers feeding into an H-pipe dual exhaust.
Plus, the numbers-matching Borg-Warner four-speed manual
transmission keeps you in firm control of the action. And speaking
of control, these T/As were known as great handling sports cars,
including power steering, power brakes w/discs up front, and sway
bars front & rear. It even has subframe connectors for added
strength.
This is a powerful and fun Trans Am done in one of the most iconic
color combos around. So don't miss this T-top stick-shift Bandit.
