Vehicle Description
The best classic cars are all about a numbers game. The 2009 Ford
Mustang Shelby GT500KR was the rarer of the two years this was
offered, and only 236 were done in black. And the ultra-rare Upfit
package was only available to KRs. This is believed to be as little
as 1 of 10 that received the final upgrade. And we have a dyno
sheet showing more power than its contemporary Ferraris and
Lamborghinis. So when it comes to numbers this one has the low
production figures and high horsepower that makes it an awesome
all-black coupe. So dig into even more details that tell you this
is your new number one desire.
Another one of the numbers to watch is the odometer. This is
believed to show its full actual mileage, and that means averaging
about 200 miles annually. So the slick Ebony Black paint is in such
great condition that you know it has spent far more time pampered
in the garage than out in the world. So there's nothing cooler than
watching the sunlight roll across this body to reveal the matte
black LeMans top stripes and coordinating rocker stripes. These
special edition KRs celebrate the original ones, and so Shelby only
produced as many as they did four decades earlier. That means this
one (#00515) has been certified as 1 of 712 made in '09 and only 1
of 236 in this stellar black. And these special edition KRs really
live up to the King of the Road namesake with the correct wide dual
hood intake that helps make this Shelby look like it will inhale
all the cars ahead of it. And there are other great dark side
enhancements like the carbon fiber front splitter, special rear
spoiler, and rear air diffuser that frames the large dual exhaust
tips. Plus, the full midnight packaging on this special coupe even
means the upgrade to special black 20-inch Shelby forged aluminum
wheels.
The interior looks, smells, and feels factory fresh. And that's
what you want because the deep and dark interior completes this
full black-out package. Just like a proper Shelby, the leather
seats have the trademark snake embossed in them. Plus, this one
really has all the Shelby details you really want. It's everything
from rare 427 embroidered headrests to Carroll Shelby's signature
on the dash. This coupe comes loaded with all the best features,
including air conditioning, power windows, power locks, a
leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless entry, cruise control, and
premium Shaker AM/FM/CD/aux stereo. And the auxiliary readout
package on top of the dash with Signature Series gauges is part of
the special Upfit upgrade.
Under the hood is the awesome DOHC 5.4-liter supercharged V8. This
is twice upgraded by Shelby for first the King of the Road (KR)
spec, and then the ultra-rare KR Upfit. There's a nice list of
features for the Upfit package (please call for the full details,)
but just know its best piece is more horsepower. The dyno sheet
shows this is not producing 585 horsepower. That's a 17 percent
increase over the already impressive standard GT500 upgrade. And
the figure is also quite important to Cobra fans. Carroll Shelby's
was all about delivering an American-powered car that could beat
the best of Europe, and so there's something extra satisfying about
a car that has more power than many of its contemporary Ferraris.
The a six-speed manual gearbox connects a 3.73 limited-slip
differential for confident and controlled take-offs. Shelby
specially tuned suspension for supercar-level power, and everything
still looks so fresh you can still clearly see the original
markings on the bolts. And as preserved as this car is, you can
confidently have track day fun, because the Brembo rotors and
six-piston calipers brake upgrade is a competition-level setup.
By now you understand all the numbers that make this such a special
coupe. And since you're interested in it as a true collector car,
it also comes with terrific paperwork. This includes the factory
buildsheet, owner's manual packet, build receipts, title
documentation, and window stickers from both Ford and Shelby. This
is an impressive car, and so you'll notice the little things. In
fact, the largest defect item you'll likely find on this coupe is
that the accent pinstripe for the racing stripes has finished its
intended years. It doesn't affect the overall finish and is only
still present to continue the originality. You may even decide to
change the tires, but don't forget this car was built when Carroll
Shelby was still in charge, and the tires were installed then, too.
It's all about keeping the originality of a very special true
supercharged Shelby. And if you want to write the next chapter in
its history, you need to catch this deal. Call today!!!
