1982 Chevrolet Corvette
Car History
The late-C3 body style, with its molded spoilers front and rear,
T-Tops, and polished factory wheels, was the last of that
generation Corvette.
We have a great looking grey 1982 C3 Corvette here today at
Adventure Classics that is special because it is a first year
Corvette that was built at the new 1-million-square-foot plant in
Bowling Green, Kentucky plant.
Mechanical
Our 1982 Corvette has two engineering advances for that year, the
Cross-Fire Injection 350 cubic inch engine and a 4-Speed automatic
transmission with overdrive fourth gear.
Cross-fire injection was new under the hood and it had dual
throttle-body fuel injectors that added to overall improved
acceleration for 1982. Ours has that engine that looks just as it
did when it left the factory as it sits in a very clean and tidy
engine compartment.
The engine has a compression ratio of 9.0 to 1 so it will use
regular gas, has a low-back-pressure dual exhaust system, a
conventional snorkel with new hood that ducts outside air directly
into the air cleaner during wide-open throttle operation through a
solenoid-controlled door which opens on signal.
It has the factory correct cleaner lid, cast valve covers, power
steering, power four-wheel disc brakes with dual hydraulic circuits
and brake warning light, computer control system, as well as an
auxiliary electric engine cooling fan and rides on performance
Mastercraft Avenger GT raised white letter tires and super-shiny
factory chrome wheels.
Interior
The grey leather bucket seat interior is great with its matching
carpeting, dash, side panels, and console and really sets off the
exterior grey paint.
It features an adjustable driver's seat, a center instrument panel
full of factory gauges, power windows with console-mounted
controls, AM/FM push-button radio with dual front speakers and
fixed mast antenna, air conditioning, heater and defroster, tach,
Quartz analog clock, illuminated visor mirror for passenger, tinted
glass for all windows, Six-way power driver's seat, electric rear
window defogger, removable glass roof panels with solar screening,
and a power door lock system.
Exterior
The grey exterior paint looks great with great shine and finish
flowing over the sleek body with spoilers front and rear, and has
other exterior equipment including power-adjustable sport mirrors,
removable glass T-tops, powered antenna, chrome factory wheels, and
the Corvette side vents.
Conclusion
This 1982 Corvette we have at Adventure Classics is a beauty and is
one of the more solid C3s available, with the added bonuses of
being in a rare color and a rare build at the current Corvette
Assembly plant.
It is as great a driving Corvette as it looks, and you will be
surprised at the handling these Corvette have too.
