Vehicle Description
1970 Buick GS Convertible - Same Owner for Past 38 Years - True GS
car - Replacement 455 V8 - Burgundy over White Interior with White
Soft top Launched in 1964, the Buick Gran Sport was Buick's answer
to the Pontiac GTO. Starting in 1968, it was the second-generation
body style that was carried through the 1972 model year and what
could be called the end of mainstream muscle cars. Based on the
Skylark Custom, no single year of this generation Buick GS sold
particularly well in their day but are now remembered as one of
GM's premier muscle cars. Offered with optional Stage I and Stage
II trim packages, these Buick's could be combined with copious
amounts of torque and abundant power with luxury. Offered here is a
1970 GS Stage 1 that saw the introduction of the 455-cid, 340-hp
V8. Buick's entire A-body fleet had been completely restyled for
the 1970 year and the overall exterior aesthetic was designed with
a cleaner look in mind. The front end was revamped to include a
wide, deeply recessed, and blacked-out grille which was divided
into two sections and shows off the fine front end brightwork
including the twin headlamps from previous model years. This
confirmed true GS is shown with burgundy paint and white interior
and top. Although we are unable to confirm if this paint is
original or an older restoration, we can confirm that this vehicle
has had the same owner for the past 38 years of its life. The
vehicle appears to have been extremely well-kept and cared for. The
paint polishes up nicely. Since it is such a focal point it is nice
to see that the exterior brightwork is in very nice condition. The
chassis and undercarriage are quite clean and appear to have some
protective coatings that have done their job. The white vinyl
interior is very clean and features bucket seats which gives this
vehicle a look that would not be the same if the seats were black.
The seats show well, it is obvious that this car was well cared
for. The convertible top and cover are taut but could use a
cleaning to bring back some of their original luster. Even with the
convertible top, the trunk allows for ample storage or hauling any
goods that you might need. If you are looking for a clean GS that
maintains its original styling, this just might be the Buick for
you. There is no denying that this gem of a classic can provide all
the power and luxury that you might ever need as well as the
ambiance and feel of a traditional convertible. Please call if
interested or e-mail with any questions. Thank you for looking.
