Proud to offer this stunning, very original, very rare, true 1972 Volkswagen THING that was a single-family owned vehicle since new. The car was imported from France. It still bares the European taillights, the French VW Club Emblem and the French License Plates. THING has a no-frills interior with a KW speedometer. This VW THING is a ton of fun to drive! Lay that manual convertible top down, lay that front window down, lift out the 4 side windows, and truly enjoy the road. Powered a RECENTLY REBUILT 1600-cc air-cooled VW engine (HAVE RECEIPTS). Also new are, top and side windows, new clutch kit, starter, Intake and exhaust gasket, tailored resistor ignition wire set, contact set, distributor rotor, distributor cap, condenser, spark plugs, mechanical fuel pump and brakes. The carburetor has been rebuilt. The rear axles have been rebuilt. Pretty much everything mechanical has been rebuilt. The THING was built to last and called the Trekker in France. It is in the original, believed to be the color Pastel White paint, “not” restored but the “original paint”, and the age gives this THING a cool classic look and makes it that much more rare. The motor is an air-cooled 4-cylinder power plant located in the rear. She comes with a 4-speed manual transmission, the only way they were offered, that is ready to be driven around the country side or to car shows. This THING, has vinyl bucket seats with a bench in the back. The odometer is showing 80,178 miles that we believe to be the miles. Options and features that come with this 1974 Volkswagen THING are little to none. The car has a new manual convertible top and new side windows, 4 like-new tires that are wrapped around patina steel wheels with the chrome VW hub caps. The underside looks great. This THING is a real 1972 THING and extremely rare. We investigated a re-paint but was told that because this THING is so original, that it has a greater value left as original as you see it. We have a copy of the owner’s manual, in French. The VW THING was only sold in the United States in 1973 and 1974. Since this car is from France and a 1972, it is highly collectable. This THING is a time capsule and a very rare car.
