Vehicle Description
2013 Chevrolet Corvette 3LT Convertible
At the end of every production year, the Bowling Green Assembly
Plant posts a list of "Options Penetration" showing how many of
each type of Corvette, color and options were built so that new
Corvette owners could try to figure out how rare their car may be.
For 2013, GM offered a record seven different models of the
Corvette; the Coupe, the Convertible, the Grand Sport Coupe, the
Grand Sport Convertible, the Z06, the ZR1 and the 427 Convertible.
The big dog as far as production for the 2013 Corvette was far and
away the Grand Sport Coupe with 4,908 units built. This is a repeat
performance for the GS Coupe which has been the number one in
production since it's introduction in 2010. A distant second to the
GS Coupe was the standard Coupe with 2,597 units built. Right on
the heels of the Coupe was the 427 Convertible with 2,552 units
built which knocked out the Grand Sport Convertible that held the
3rd place spot for the 2012 Model Year. Now, the GS Convert settles
into 4th place with 1,736 units built. The last three spots were a
bit anemic with 720 Convertibles built, 482 ZR1s built and 471 Z06s
built. Many people believe that the one year run of the 427
Convertible affected the sales of the Z06 and the ZR1 since this
was the only shot to get something close to a convertible version
of either of those two super cars.
For consignment, a fully loaded Corvette in 3LT form and this
sportscar from Chevrolet is lean and fast, with plenty of creature
comforts to amuse you while you go fast. From its 1 owner history
to the 460 actual miles, to the fact it's one of approximately 33
Corvettes built in the 2013 model year in Inferno Orange, (this
includes all models and body styles), it's all fiberglass cowled
and finned body, all form has a function, and that is why this is
called America's sports car. No stones left unturned here ladies
and gentlemen!
Exterior
This integrated bumper, sealed headlights, no audacious chrome,
just pure performance oriented sculpted exterior is bathed in
Inferno Orange Metallic. Fiberglass is near perfect, with just one
scrape down low on the driver's side, just like it was carefully
un-molded at the factory. All gaps are well minded, and with all
the panels, it becomes a piece of racing sculpture with a
performance heritage. On top is a pristine black canvas power
convertible, with a glass rear window. It moves up and down almost
as fast as the car does and allows for 3 season driving. 18 inch 5
spoke polished wheels in front and 19's in the rear, and we are
ready to step inside and spin the tires. Bringing up the rear is a
large flat angled inward panel, complete with the round Corvette
taillights, and a quad grouping tailpipe setup centered at the
bottom for the dual mode exhaust.
Interior
Carved utilizing smooth lines shaping foam and leather which form 2
high back buckets for driver and passenger. These Ebony buckets are
in like new condition with only very minor wrinkling of the leather
on the driver's outer bolsters. These seats are heated and have the
iconic crossed flags embroidered into the headrests. Fronting these
seats is a dash which grows from side to side out of a center
console which houses a glovebox, and shift lever fabricated out of
leather knobbed and booted. The console moves gracefully upward
giving the climate control center and Bose
AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth/Navigation system space to hang out. Under the
curved instrument cluster, we see a backlit cascade of gauges
perfectly fitted under an emulating shape to this cluster arch
steering wheel. Plenty of power conveniences are noted throughout.
Black carpet floods the floors and is very clean, as are the door
panels also utilizing the curve for their design.
Drivetrain
Under the front flipping hood, is a 6.2-liter 8-cylinder EFI mill
that looks like showroom condition. On back is a 6L80E 6-speed
automatic that utilizes a paddle shifter on the steering wheel
option if you desire to get a bit competitive. A 2.56 rear axle is
present.
Undercarriage
With the odometer showing a mere 460 original miles, this underside
is showroom. No rust, just a mixture of steel and aluminum, all
shiny and bright. SLA independent suspension is all around, power
disc brakes also in all 4 corners, and these are cross drilled and
big. Also, active handling and traction control is attached, as
well as a multi-mode performance exhaust. A big stainless steel
exhaust snakes its way rearward from the mill.
Drive-Ability
I've had the pleasure to drive every Corvette that has come to the
Classic Auto Mall, and they all have their own feel year to year of
production. This one is easy in and out, seats grab you, and with
the push of the button it lights right up. I like the paddles and
make extensive use of them on the test track where it has neck
snapping acceleration, rail-like handling, and is very stable in
the curves which it cuts through like a sharp hot knife through
butter. It also has a very smooth low RPM cruise. The sound system
and all interior power functions worked just supremely.
Think of driving a piece of sculpture that is highly functional on
the performance front. And it will come at a wonderfully reduced
price as any car tends to do as it gracefully ages. Yes, there are
a few bells and whistles that will come with a newer 'Vette,
however this one is virtually new with the mere miles put on since
its purchase. Great low production color, lots of tech options, and
your dream car because who does not dream of owning a Corvette? Now
is your chance, don't let it speed by.
