For Sale: 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

When it comes to nearly universal appeal, few cars bring it quite like a Chevrolet tri-five. While a lot of classics place an emphasis on speed, style or some other singular piece of the puzzle, the quintessential Chevy continues to thrive as a malleable definition of everything to everyone. With almost all the dials turned past 11, this tailored Bel Air resto-mod is a car that'll fulfill the needs of virtually any enthusiast. And, from its smooth LS3 power and proven 4L80E 4-speed to its custom leather upholstery and choice Air Ride Technologies suspension, pretty much any spectator with a pulse can find something to admire!

TWICE THE DOORS, TWICE THE STYLE

The product of a professional, $250K build that was completed by Fort Mill, South Carolina's Vintage Cars Inc., this stunning Chevy has, in addition to winning numerous national awards, been featured in both the Goodguys Gazette and Street Rodder Magazine. From casual glances to long looks, the car exudes a sense of quality that comes from countless hours of work and serious attention to detail. With straight panels and impressive panel fitment, its body sets the standard for what to expect from the rest of the build. There are no notable modifications, aside from $50K of modern two-stage that manifests as Chrysler Inferno Red Metallic under Ford Merlot Metallic. And overall, this slick sedan is right at home turning heads on the road OR logging points at a show!

Not surprisingly, this Chevy's classy pigment creates a fabulous foundation for a select array of mirrored bolt-ons. At the front of the car, a polished bumper props polished guards in front of a polished grille, clear parking lamps and traditional, stainless-trimmed headlights. At the top of that grille, a Chevrolet-branded hood centers a correct Jetbird between ornate fender toppers and stainless-trimmed glass that's cleared by polished wipers. At the base of that glass, a silky, Bel Air-branded profile hangs small mirrors and expressive Speed Spears between a power antenna, guarded door handles and flowing rocker shields. And at the back of that profile, a second polished bumper floats two more guards beneath an ornate trunk crest and old school Blue Dot Taillights.

STILL SMALL BLOCK POWER

Serving as primary motivation for an entire roster of General Motors' latest and greatest performance cars, this classic's proven LS3 utilizes a hearty 6.2 liters of displacement to turn easy horsepower into years of reliable torque! At the top of the aluminum mill, polished tubes swirl cool air between a factory throttle body and remote, reusable filter cones. That valve fronts a lightweight composite intake that's juiced by electronic fuel injection. That air/fuel mixture progresses to rectangular-port L92-style heads, which tuck nicely between familiar GM wires and a polished engine shroud. A nodular crank, powdered connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons provide compression, while a hydraulic roller cam maximizes intake efficiency. Speaking of breathing, the smooth mill funnels spent gases through coated headers. A polished Griffin radiator fronts a custom support and quick-spinning puller fans. A polished serpentine drive spins modern air conditioning above modern power steering. And items like a massaged firewall, polished reservoirs, trick sticks and polished hood supports convey a sense of top-notch detailing.

AIR FOR ALL

Bottom-side, the spry small block funnels power through a proven 4L80E 4-speed automatic transmission, which twists torque to a predictable Ford 9-inch rear end that's finished with 3.55 gears and 31-spline axles. Those axles push a heavily massaged rear-clip that follows a web of tubular arms with fully adjustable Air Ride Technologies bags. Up front, a thick sway bar leads tubular control arms and two more self-leveling Air Ride Technologies bags. That modern suspension gets stopped by power-assisted calipers, which utilize a polished booster to squeeze drilled and vented rotors. Turns come courtesy of power rack-and-pinion steering. Fluids get shuffled by a polished fuel tank. Aluminized exhaust centers throaty Flowmaster mufflers in front of polished stainless tips. And all that mechanical goodness rolls on polished Foose Shockwave wheels, which spin 215/50ZR17 Pirelli P Zeros in front of 245/50ZR17 Pirelli P Zero tires.

CUSTOM IS KING

Pop the doors and you'll find a choice custom interior that's both stylish and purposeful. Modern, power-operated buckets, sourced from a Cadillac Escalade, wrap supple leather hides around integrated shoulder belts. A body-matched dash bends polished and bowtie-branded billet around modern air conditioning and Dakota Digital telemetry. A custom console cages a Pioneer Premier head unit which, with the help of American Autowire wiring, bumps Pioneer Premier speakers behind Memphis Car Audio speakers. Custom side panels anchor sculpted armrests in front of power windows, power door locks and power vent windows. Thick Dynamat insulation floats premium carpet through a custom-upholstered trunk. And the driver spins a body-matched Bel Air steering wheel around a polished, tilting column.

When it comes to maximizing the amount of metal your money buys, you simply can't go wrong with a world class tri-five. Thanks to a well-planned build that utilized top notch components, this legendary Chevy is fun, reliable and ready to turn heads. Looking for a stylish classic that commands big respect on both the boulevard and the show field? Look no further than this sophisticated Bel Air!
