Vehicle Description
When it comes to a car that you want to both collect and drive,
this 1996 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT convertible absolutely nails it.
After all, you have an exceptionally low-mileage drop-top, and this
is the year they debuted the awesome new V8 that gave these a
dominating 300+ horsepower.
The upgraded Modular V8 that debuted this year basically made these
collector cars from day one. But now that it has officially passed
the 25-year mark, you are starting to see the opportunity where
these are also qualifying for vintage car registration in many
states. And when you're going to have a car that's officially a
classic, it needs to be presented correctly. This example shows all
the right signs of showcasing its factory-applied Rio Red paint.
Averaging under 1,200 miles annually means the finish continues to
have an impressive gloss in the sunshine. But this one also wasn't
hidden down a hole where no one could enjoy it. You know it got out
of the garage occasionally for some responsible fun. There are even
fun added details like the gradient door hashes that draw added
attention to the smooth and clean channel that runs through the
well-fitting doors. And if you feel like taking your low-mileage
SVT Cobra to a car show, it's just one professional detail away
from being an impressive and highly original machine. After all,
the fundamentals like the sheet metal, SVT body kit, coiled snake
badges, full-width rear spoiler, polished exhaust tips, and special
17-inch alloys are all looking excellent.
The black roof has a good look against the deep red paint -
especially with its newer appearance and deeply tinted back window.
And if you like the look of all this darkness, then you'll love
taking it down to showcase the full black interior. It has the kind
of premium style you want in a premium SVT. It starts with a great
driver's position with the power-adjusting driver's seat finished
in supple leather. A leather-wrapped wheel, cruise control, power
windows, power locks, keyless entry, dual airbags, and a kickin'
Mach 460 sound system are all about a package with performance and
panache. The power convertible top means the roof disappears with
little more than a touch of a button, and the cold air conditioning
means you can enjoy top-down motoring any time of the year. Just
like the exterior, the interior is well-preserved but also built to
still be driven. And so you have added details like the sporty roll
bar and a soft tonneau to go over the rear seats. It almost makes
this SVT Cobra look like a descendant of the two-seat Shelby
Cobras!
We can't say enough about how the motor makes this one awesome. The
4.6-liter DOHC V8 debuted in 1996, and this multi-valve motor
changed the game with its 305 horsepower. That's why this is a
milestone classic, and while there's a huge aftermarket to add even
more power, we're glad to see something so significant remain quite
stock. The five-speed manual transmission puts you in the center of
the action, and the SVT upgraded chassis delivers true performance
car handling. Helping corral all this power pony under your control
is the power steering, massive four-wheel disc brakes, and grippy
BF Goodrich gForce tires.
Complete with the owner's manual packet, this is the significant
Cobra that is striking, distinct, and all-around well-respected. It
makes for a terrific low-mileage car that's ideal to both collect
and enjoy. But the only way you get to ride this pony home tomorrow
is if you call today!
