Over the past 100+ years, Chevrolet has built such a vast empire of
lovable offerings that some of them just seem to get overlooked.
Possibly the most substantial victim of that unfortunate phenomenon
is the storied Monte Carlo. Introduced in 1970, and proudly parked
in over half a million driveways during its first three years of
production, the brand's 'personal luxury coupe' was decidedly cool.
And, not as ostentatious as a Corvette or as boorish as a Camaro,
the car spent most of its life as the poster child for evolving
automotive tastes. This classy Monte is a solid cruiser that's
benefitted from an acute restoration. And if you're looking for an
awesome classic that's clean, attractive, and ready to roll, you
simply won't find more muscle for the money!
BODYWORK/TRIM
Counter to the bowtie brand's Camaro offering, the Monte Carlo
sought a more refined and sophisticated buyer. One could almost say
that Chevy employed the same proven tactic that had seen Plymouth
successfully market the GTX next to the Road Runner. Mixing a
killer stance with retrofitted Super Sport cosmetics, this
attractive coupe conveys a genteel aesthetic in the realm of
broad-shouldered muscle cars. Not long ago, the car's straight
'coke bottle' sheet metal was stripped bare metal, Once that
profile was straight and level, then it was refinished in base coat
clear Urethane, Then wet sanded and buffed to the high shine you
see in our photos. To accompany the "Superior Blue Metallic" color,
the windows were tinted to add a nice touch and help keep the sun
from beating down on you. And today, this GM knight rolls as one
razor-sharp G-Body that looks Great, runs Great, and is poised to
turn heads for many years to come!
ENGINE
Lift this coupe's long factory hood and you'll find a HO (high
output for SS model) 305 cu. in. 180 HP V8 Chevy small block that's
been cared for very well over the years.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Beneath this Chevy, you'll find a cleaned-up undercarriage that
appears to be in solid condition with solid floor pans that are
dressed in a traditional coat of Satin Black paint. Behind the
proven small block, the car's standard Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed
automatic. The car has factory power steering and power disc
brakes. The exhaust system is in great condition and still has the
stainless tips. The power meets the pavement through a set of
factory rally wheels with "Chevrolet" branded center caps and a
round of four BF Good Rich Ta Radials P245/60R15.
INTERIOR
Pop the doors and you'll find a stylish factory cloth Blue interior
that's way too crisp to be original equipment... but it is.
Everything starts with plush cloth seats that look good, feel
great, and are all-day comfortable. Between those bucket seats is a
gold-trimmed console that provides tapered real estate for a
familiar factory shifter and clean factory accessory gauges. At the
front of that island, a factory-trimmed dash and factory climate
control in the console area with an updated sound system with blue
tooth and Kicker speakers. At the sides of that ledge, fade-free
door panels hang factory power windows and factory power locks
above factory Fisher door sills. Those panels are framed by a cloth
headliner, which is centered on small reading lamps, and original
carpet, and also has color-keyed floor mats. And the driver spins a
leather-wrapped, bow-tie steering wheel around a tilting factory
column.
You really can't ask for a cooler classic than this classy Chevy,
especially when it comes to value. Offering great looks and proven
performance for less than $25K, it's the perfect car for any
enthusiast who wants a top-notch cruiser that's sorted, polished,
and ready to roll ride. So, what are you waiting for? Call your
friends at Custom Classics and enjoy a little personal Muscle Car
luxury!
