The F-series of pickup trucks were initially introduced in 1948 and
continue to be produced today. They were a record breaking line for
Ford becoming the best selling pickup truck in 1977. Even cars
couldn't stand up to the F-series as they became the highest
selling vehicle overall by the early 80's. In 2022 Ford passed a
mile stone producing their 40 millionth unit and a bunch of those
40 million are still on the road today. They are currently in their
14th generation. Classic pickups have really grown in popularity in
recent years and have become the base for some of the coolest
customs on the road. This 1970 belongs to the 5th generation and
was a special year that saw a mid cycle redesign including new
trim, new grill, and various other changes. While this 1970 Ford
F250 started its life as a stock pickup it has been completely
redone from top to bottom. The result is an extremely smooth
running custom that really stands out next to others with the same
body style. The build was completed 4-5 years ago in Tennessee and
it has 30,000 miles on it since. The body is very straight and all
rust free. The paint is a beautiful combination of a bright Red
nicely complimented with custom Black accents. The bumpers, grill,
mirrors, and trim pieces are now all gloss Black and create a
really cool look. Even the "FORD" emblems and the lettering on the
tail gate have been done in Black. The overall design really works
well together and the finish has a great shine. It has the stock
style rear taillights that have been modified with old school blue
dots and in front are LED halo headlights with Red backing. The
truck has a fully adjustable stance due to the air ride that allows
you to set the perfect height for cruising down the road and drop
it down at shows. The truck has a great aggressive look when
sitting low to the ground with the 20 inch custom wheels tucking
into the fenders. The bed has been customized with a custom cover
to provide space for the air ride tank and to give room for the
wheels and suspension when it is lowered.
In place of the original motor the truck is now powered by a 4.6
fuel injected V8. These motors were used in later model pickups,
Mustangs and even police interceptors. They receive high remarks
for reliability, performance and parts are easy to obtain. This one
has been totally rebuilt and fitted with custom Black/Red valve
covers and a custom engine cover. The engine compartment is all
show ready with custom fabricated painted to match inner fenders, a
custom radiator cover, and painted firewall. It is definitely
something you are going to want to show off. It has a 4 speed
automatic with overdrive transmission that shifts smoothly with no
issues. Underneath the truck is a 2006 Crown Victoria chassis that
is solid. During the build it was upgraded with 4 wheel power disc
brakes and power steering.
Inside the cab the truck has a fully custom TMI interior. It has
dual bucket seats, a custom center console, custom door panels and
a dash pad all finished out in a Dark Gray/Black with Red
stitching. The steel portions of the dash are done in the same
Red/Black theme. It has been modified with the air ride controls,
custom gauges in a custom bezel and AM/FM/CD/Mp3/Bluetooth
Blaupunkt stereo with a 6.2 inch screen. If driving along to your
favorite tunes is important this thing easily answers the call with
aftermarket speakers, a subwoofer and booster. The steering column
is painted black and fitted with a Forever Sharp Red leather
wrapped steering wheel. The shifter is mounted to the floor and is
a B&M ratchet shifter setup in a custom box.
This truck has a lot of neat things going on with it and it is
clear the builder put a lot of love and time into the overall
design. The result is a unique classic pickup with modern
performance to make it very enjoyable to drive.
