(10 years) Truck collectors, have we got one for you ? a 1960
Willys FC-170 Forward Control (cab-over-engine) Pickup 4x4! This
seldom-seen survivor underwent a complete, frame-on restoration in
2015. Dressed in President Red with Glacier White trim, the paint
and trim are in overall excellent shape, as expected. The truck?s
bodywork is straight and solid, with the engine peeking between the
two front seats. The engine bay was in satisfactory shape while the
black cargo bed looks great and ready for a load or two! The black
front bumper fits well and offers contrast to the exterior paint
colors. Up front is a dealer-installed power take-off winch. On the
passenger side aft of the cab is a side-mounted spare tire and
wheel. This truck rolls on Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tires,
size 245/75R16 at every corner and the spare is a Firestone LT
tire, size 245/75R16. All five tires are mounted to white wheels
without any wheel covers. This truck has a 103-inch wheelbase, a
7,000 GVWR and a 108-inch cargo bed. Nestled between the seats is a
226 CID Super Hurricane straight six-cylinder engine. Backing this
motor is a Borg-Warner T-90 three-speed manual transmission and a
Spicer two-speed transfer case. This truck has a Spicer 44F front
axle with a 4.89:1 ratio and a Spicer 53 semi-floating rear axle
with a 4.88:1 ratio. Inside, the gray bucket seats look great and
offer great contrasts to the red, metal dash, white floor and gray
inner door liners. A gray headliner and a black, three-spoke
steering wheel also stand out. A set of triplet aftermarket gauges
are mounted below the dash and both the transmission and transfer
case have floor levers. The fuel, temperature, speedometer, and
odometer are inop. The Jeep Forward Control is a truck that was
produced by Willys Motors, later named Kaiser Jeep, from 1956 to
1965. It was also assembled in other international markets. The
layout featured a cab over (forward control or FC) design. The FC
layout offered advantages including a short turning radius and
large cargo bed size given the compact overall length. The Forward
Control models were primarily marketed as work vehicles for
corporate, municipal, military, as well as civilian use. Regular
pickup box beds were standard and customers were offered many ?Jeep
approved? specialized bodies from outside suppliers. These ranged
from simple flatbeds to complete tow trucks, dump trucks, and fire
trucks. It?s ironic that Willys/Kaiser got out of the Forward
Control business?the last of the FC-150s and 170s were built in
1964?about the same time the Big Three were introducing their own
cab-over pickups and vans! Competition to this Willys in 1960
included Chevrolet?s K10 pickup, Dodge?s C-series W-100 4x4, Ford?s
F-100 4x4, GMC?s K1000 pickup and International?s B-120 4x4. If
you?re a Willys-Jeep fan, a truck collector or someone who seeks a
novel vehicle to advertise your small business, you can?t go wrong
with this Willys FC-170 at MotoeXotica Classic Cars. Stop by today
to look at it for yourself! VIN: 6156814809 This truck is currently
located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on
the odometer shows 58,454 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a
clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!! Note:
