For Sale: 1984 AMC Eagle in Deep River, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

Meet Hazel. She's an 84 AMC Eagle.

Although back in the day, she was sort of an outcast, in retrospect, Hazel and the entire Eagle line up, were years ahead of their time.

Listed on the door card as a Multi-Use Vehicle, she was the predecessor of the crossover vehicles and SUVs of today.

Powered by the 4.2L bulletproof "Jeep" inline six, and running power out through a three speed Torque-Flight automatic transmission and a vacuum actuated New Process 128 transfer case. The suspension and chassis isn't exactly that of a Jeep of the same vintage but it's not far off. The rear end is a D35 on leaf springs and the front is a modified D30 with CV axles out at the ends to accommodate the IFS.

The 112 HP and 220 lb ft of torque are enough to propel this car down the road at highway speeds with ease, at an average of 20 MPG.

This could very well be a daily driver that you shine up and take to shows on the weekend, because at nearly 40 years old, she's considered a classic in pretty much every state of the union.

Hazel was brought into this world via the Tyrrell AMC dealership in Cheyenne, WY. She stayed with her first owner for at least 10 years and then transferred to Chicago and then into Michigan where she spent at least 15 years. The car has been well cared for in that time frame and it shows in her overall condition. She wasn't really babied but she was cared for. There are 118,000 miles on the car and that equates to only about 3000 miles per year. She's now with her 4th owner who's had her for about 2 years. In that time he's done a full fluid change, replaced the headliner, put on 4 brand new tires (Starfire SF340's in 215/65/R15 size) and he had the transmission/T case rebuilt.

For a car of the mid 80's she is rather well appointed too, despite not having the leather option, she has AC (that has been recharged and fit with R134 and blows cold! ), tilt wheel, power locks, power brakes (disc in F, drum in R), power steering, air suspension, cruise control, AM/FM Cassette stereo with 4 speakers, fold down rear seat, and rear window wiper and defrost.

She does show her age in spots with some minor dings, chips and some small scratches. Quite a few were hidden with a color correction that was done under this owner's watch.

The hood was blue when this owner bought her as the previous owner had an issue where the hood wasn't latched properly and came up at highway speeds and got bent, so when the color correction was done, the hood was painted to match.

The cloth seats are in good condition and aside from the new headliner, the cushions were all steam cleaned and the car was treated to an Ozone treatment. The interior shows the miles too with some cracked plastic pieces and wear and tear here and there, especially on the driver seat.

Sliding under the car one will find a little age/surface rust, new bushings, no rot, an operational air suspension (the compressor under the hood works correctly in either ACC mode or AUTO mode), newer exhaust and CV boots, a skid plate and the optional towing package. The wiring harness is still in the original factory bag under the way back floor.

Hazel is ready for her next adventure. She rides and drives very nicely, gets up to speed easily and stops firmly. The vacuum operated 4WD system engages correctly and will take you up steep rutted roads or snow covered ski roads with ease.

Would you like to bring Hazel home?

Her dowry is $9500.

Any questions, for many more photos and video, to schedule a time to meet her in person or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanks for the interest.
