This 1974 Volkswagen Thing Acapulco Edition is believed to be one
of approximately 400 examples produced by Volkswagen Mexico for the
US market in 1974 because the VIN number falls in the range of the
400. The Acapulco is distinguished from other Things by its striped
soft top and upholstery, as well as the blue-painted hood, dash
panel, and rocker panels. Power comes from a 1.6-liter flat-four
mated with a 4-speed manual transaxle.
This particular example has been updated with front disc brakes,
Porsche style alloy wheels, chrome bumpers and a LED light system
under the soft top!
Recent work includes rebuilt transmission, new alternator, new
voltage regulator, tune up, new master brake cylinder, new turn
signal switch, new speedometer, new fuel gauge, new electric wiper
motor, new upper and lower ball joints, H4 headlights, and new
Alpine CD/USB receiver with Bluetooth.
