This all original Avanti R2 -- three generations of one family -- spent almost 60 years on the West Coast. Over the past year, it has been been thoroughly inspected, tested, fully sorted, and concours painted by Competition Motors, Portsmouth, NH. The Avanti comes with historic documents and records, including the original bill of sale, canceled purchase check, and driver's manual. A similar R2 Avanti coupe with Paxton Supercharger and four speed gearbox was driven in 1964 by Studebaker drivetrain advisor, Andy Granatelli, to 22 stock car records at the Bonneville Salt Flats, including a top stock speed record of more than 180mph, a record which stood for more than two decades. The Avanti starts, runs and drives as a pampered, unrestored and original collector car should -- and will not disappoint a discerning collector who fully understands the rarity, high quality and very high performance of the few thousand, round headlighted, 1963-64 Raymond Loewy-designed Studebaker Avantis, and the investment potential that reflect these qualities.
