California car for the past three decades that is solid and
rust-free. Finished in Orange over Black leatherette upholstery
with the matching 2.0-liter six-cylinder engine. The paintwork has
recently had a paint correction and shows beautifully against the
exterior trim. The seats have been reupholstered with German black
vinyl and houndstooth inserts. Optional equipment includes a
leather-wrapped Momo Prototipo steering wheel, additional VDO
temperature, oil pressure gauges, rear fender flares, and an AM/FM
Blaupunkt radio. Staggered 6" & 7" Fuchs alloy wheels have been
refinished with Pirelli P6000 185 70 R15 front and 195 65 R15 rear
tires.
According to the Certificate of Authenticity, this 914-6 was
originally delivered in Tangerine (23) over Black (11) leatherette
upholstery. Optional equipment from the factory includes Finland
Equipment, Leather Steering Wheel, White Fog Lights, Tinted Side
Glass, and Light Metal Wheels. The earliest known history of this
vehicle begins in late 1991 when the previous owner had the 914-6
inspected by Charlie's Foreign Car Service in Encinitas,
California. On September 30, 1992, they were commissioned to
perform a complete transmission overhaul totaling $3,922,74.
Registration cards from 1995 to present indicate that ownership was
transferred to Mr. Sougias sometime in the early 2000s. After two
decades of ownership, the 914-6 was purchased by European
Collectibles and the seats were upholstered with houndstooth
inserts and installed 6" and 7" Fuchs Alloy wheels.
Mechanically, this 914-6 runs perfectly with a numbers-matching
2.0-liter flat-six (type 901/38) producing 110 horsepower, with a
smooth-shifting manual 5-speed dogleg transmission (type 901), and
four-wheel disc brakes. Complete with service records from
1991-1995, 914-6 owner's manual, Certificate of Authenticity, and
California registration cards from 1995-2018. An excellent
opportunity to acquire an excellent 914-6 finished in a desirable
color combination.
History
The 914-6 was produced between 1970 to 1972 and utilized a
carbureted version of Porsche's six-cylinder engine. The suspension
was upgraded to better accommodate the increased output of 110 hp.
Porsche also produced 32 factory-built, race-prepped versions of
the 914-6 GT. Another 455 914-6s were either ordered with the
"Competition Option Group" GT package or were fitted with a factory
kit.
